This project seeks to work with the Center for society reconditioning and development (CEFSORD), Ado-Ekiti in organizing a workshop on leadership, starting small scale business (entrepreneurship) the less privileged in the center. A COHORT of people attended to by the Center have been mapped out to be extremely in need of help in terms of INFORMATION and practical knowledge and connection about health, leadership and business. These people live on less that $1/per day and the Project will help them develop ideas around businesses that require little start up capital.
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Ado-ekiti, ekiti state.
Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
The people this Project seek to work with are already identified by the
Center, most of which can operate their phones and access the
internet. Our target group are mostly women of child bearing age most of
which are prone to diseases due to their inability to adequately fend
for themselves and children. The voices of these women(single parents)
and children are suppressed by the growing tendency of people (private
and government) to submit to greed amongst other factors. Working with
these women would promote the notion that the society still cares about
them. Apart from that, their children will also b positively touched and
can as well view the world with hope that their present condition can
only get better.
Who else will be on your team to help implement the project?
Other members that would be on the team are

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Basically, news and stories and/or any other content that will be created will be
in form of videos and pictures where participants will be captured as
they go about putting to use what they have gained from the workshop.
These contents will be uploaded on the Center's Website and a host of
other websites that share the same goal as the project. It would also be
uploaded on facebook and twitter.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
Although we have a good connection and relationship in the community. We also
have gotten a favourable response from the Special Assistant on Media,
Ekiti State. We also plan to involve Small and Medium Enterprises
Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
25 people are going to be involved. Participants are sourced from and
identified by the Center for society reconditioning and development.
The participants are jointly and closely monitored and mentored by the
us and the center.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
We already have on ground seasoned leadership and business experts,
microbiologist and health officer. We would be using mobile phones to
make videos and pictures (multimedia). The use of phones would be
appropriate as most of the participants and the target community are
used to using it.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
The
workshop will be taking place in a hall with the capacity to take 30
people. Five laptops are available for use to view how participants
uploaded stories (videos and pictures) on the social media. We also
intend to get more laptops and rent a projector as the workshop
commences. We hope to get 5 internet enabled phones to serve as back up
peradventure we have one or two participants without an internet enabled
phone or a faulty one. Etisalat USB modem is all that is available for
internet connection.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
We have a good relationship with the community and have a robust knowledge
about issues revolving around health, community work and economic
challenges in the target community. Collaborating with CEFSORD even
place us in a very good position, as CEFSORD has over the past 8 years
or thereabout engaged in community work, empowerment and advocacy in
line with the Millennium Development Goals and as such are trusted and
known by the community. We also have engaged stakeholders in the
community to ensure that they have adequate knowledge about the workshop
if it finally comes through.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
The only notable challenge that we might be facing is only in the area of
power supply. The country is low on power generation presently. However,
plans are underway to provide an alternative source of power via
generators.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
The success of this project will be measured by the following indicators.
i. Participants are able to better their lives by being well informed
about their health and how important it is to them. ‘Health is wealth’
comes to mind.
ii. Participants are able to create contents (videos and pictures) and
upload it on their own.
iii. Participants are able to teach and engage other members of the
Center on what they have been thought at the workshop.
iv. participants becomes more aware of the leadership roles and
qualities required of them.

participants. We also will be glad if these contents produced by the
participants can be given publicity by Rising grants as one can never
tell how far reaching they could be.
