Nigeria: Mobile Advocacy Training For Environmental Monitoring

The project aim is to mobilize the people of ijegun community who have been perpetual victims of environmental pollution, to monitor their environment. This involves the capturing of image(photo & video) of pollution , for documentation and environmental reporting. Recently, a nigerian owned state Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation spilled into the community water and for weeks and months, it was not in the media and public domain. The mobile activism project is to give the people a ready voice through the picture and video representation of their environmental degradation plights.

Uganda: Campaign Against Violation of Women Rights

CARA intends to implement a 1 year project titled “Campaign against violation of women rights”in Kayunga District.The proposed project hopes to achieve the following; Improvement in the reported cases of violation of women rights, Reduction in violation cases against women, increased community awareness on dangers on violation of rights of women, CARA proposes to achieve the above outcomes through implementing different activities.The project will sensitize women on their human and civil rights through community dialogue meetings working with law enforcers, one no one dissemination of messages

Argentina: Guía Egreso

Guía Egreso intends to “Contribute to the strengthening of youth in transition from the system of protection towards autonomy so that they develop as active and productive citizens”. We hope to orient, train and assist virtually 50 young of the autonomous city and the province of Buenos Aires. The project will take place under the methodology between pairs. Face-to-face and virtual group follow-up activities will be carried out peer-to-peer.

India: Bhili Swara – Voice of Indian Bhili Adivasis

CGnet Swara is a verbal news platform – a mobile-phone service that allows people to upload and listen to reports in their ownlanguages, providing a communication outlet for media dark zones that usually do not find space in mainstream media. Reported stories are moderated by journalists and become available for playback online as well as over the phone. Villagers drop a missed call on CGNet’s server, which then calls them back, and records their reports.By appointing a moderator/trainer for Bhil tribals, we aim to replicate the success achieved with ‘Gond’ and ‘Baiga’ tribals in Central India

“Coming Out to Reclaim Rights and Strengthen Spaces” will assist leaders, organisations and networks in providing positive interventions for young people who are questioning their sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), people who are living with HIV (PLHIV); and men who have sex with men (MSM) through a two-day training on the strategic use of information and communication technologies (ICT) including B-Change Foundation’s web-apps BE and PLUS, for organisational support and development.

Mexico: Zapotecan Zaachila Language Documentation and Revitalization

There are not accessible grammars or dictionaries of Zaachila. Our research group has the aim to document and revitalize the language through the oral literature in a series of workshops, where together with speakers of Zaachila and other members of the community (children) we will produce a booklet with traditional short stories narrated by different speakers of Zaachila and translated into Spanish and English and a talking dictionary online. The process will be filmed with the intention to make a documentary where the speakers can give their impressions about their language and identity.

India: Advocacy Training through Citizen Media in Sohela

Sohela, in Bargarh district of Odisha, India is a town which is still facing many problems such as Caste Discrimination, Labour Wages Problem, Drugs Abuse, Misuse of Government Funds by authorities, etc. Most people here are willing to fight against this evils but don't have proper knowledge or channel to express their views. I want to train youths and women from the grassroots in various forms of Citizen Journalism so that they can channelize their voice and issues in a proper to advocate for their rights and let the everybody hear them. I want to hand them over the power of media.

Bulgaria: Syrian voices in Europe

This project aims to present the daily lives and struggles of the Syrian refugee population in Bulgaria by creating an online blog in Bulgarian and English, which is to be filled with pictures and stories from the refugee camps. The purpose is to get the Bulgarian public acquainted with their problems. The idea is to provide up to 10 people with smartphones to create picture and video content, which is then to be edited and translated from Arabic to Bulgarian and English and disseminated through social networks and other online tools.

Ukraine: Center for Investigative Journalism “Garnet”

СIJ «Garnet» – journalistic project in Kiev region, Ukraine. Objective of project – public control over public finance, privatization, and economic sphere in Kiev region. We hope to achieve level of professional mass-media. In our state we have negative situation, the local media do not cover the most important issues in many regions. We published articles about tenders, concessions, privatization and shared it in social networks for residents of Kiev region since February 2014. That's why residents of Kiev region always know the latest news about the actions of local authorities.

Nigeria: Shaken but Not Stirred!

This project seeks to work with the Center for society reconditioning and development (CEFSORD), Ado-Ekiti in organizing a workshop on leadership, starting small scale business (entrepreneurship) the less privileged in the center. A COHORT of people attended to by the Center have been mapped out to be extremely in need of help in terms of INFORMATION and practical knowledge and connection about health, leadership and business. These people live on less that $1/per day and the Project will help them develop ideas around businesses that require little start up capital.
