Brazil: Bonito Ecommunicators

The Bonito-MS/Brasil city is internationally known as “the capital of ecotourism”, in spite of garbage left in the open, no sanitation, no care for nature outside the tourist attractions and local population being excluded from the development process. The proposed project intends to give voice to this marginalized population, and find images, sounds and words that represent their stories and needs. It aims to make weekly posts on a blog, considering that the productions will be made by the community and by the Bonito Ecommunicators, which will be multipliers of the workshops they are partici

  • Hi!

We, from Bocapio, really like your proposal!

We are situated in Lençóis, a supost place to ecotourism, but here things are so late an poblation also is excluded from these process in tourism explotation.

We have here a project to estimulate people to know more your history and participate in comuniccation and technology workshops.

I’d like to talk more with you, cause you are in a touristic place, that works like a model in ecotourism for us.

  • Hi Lucas!
    Thanks for your comment.

This proposal is totally new. I grew up in Bonito. It’s a small town, but the ecotourism model dominates as the biggest commercial activity.

Although the city’s schools here have a special subject of Tourism to teach children – which is very interesting – the population is totally outside the development process that tourism brings.

We intend to extend the reach of their voices and give importance to their stories, making the voices speak for themselves, to be heard, to sustain themselves and multiply them.

I saw Bocapio project and I liked a lot too. There are things to learn. I hope that we keep in touch. I’ve added you on facebook.
