This proposal raises the formalization and extension of ” Hijos de la tierra” project through strategic communication planning activities whose main thematic focus is the emergence, development and monitoring of the various socio-environmental movements and struggles in Mexico and Latin America. This project communication public goal will be to those people in resistance against the development of mining mega dams or in their communities and have generated their own information spaces, specifically REMA And MAPDER networks whose advocacy work is carried out in states like Chiapas, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco and Veracruz.

Mapder (Movimiento Mexicano de Afectado por represas) who is vinculated to the following struggles:

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Hijos de la tierra will produce information content in digital radio and audio-visual format.
The information will nest according to the level of news importance given by the editorial line of this medium and his speech will be framed in different journalistic genres adapted to radio and audiovisual language as note and chronic, giving prominence to the opinion genres and research and interview, report and column.

During for years, “Hijos de la Tierra” has colaborated with MAPDER broadcasting the following events: Tercer Encuentro Mundial Temacapulín 2010, Encuentro MAPDER Chiapas 2011, Encuentro MAPDER Nayarit 2012, y Encuentro MAPDER Veracruz 2013 .
In mining megaproyects, “Hijos de la Tierra” has colaborated in: Colima, Oaxaca y Puebla. It has also colaborated with REDLAR in Guatemala.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
The “Hijos de la Tierra” project estimates that its work program achieved summon 200 people through its training methodology in community communication. The aim is to create a network of journalists specialized in environmental advocacy and human rights linked to the socio-environmental movements and struggles in Mexico and Latin America.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
The “Hijos de la Tierra” project will use a digital video camera to document the various sources of information on socio-environmental movements and struggles in Mexico and Latin America. This tool will facilitate the implementation of audiovisual materials. It will also use and audio recorder for creating materials that are adapted to radio format
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
The “Hijos de la Tierra” project will design and implement a training methodology to provide community outreach workshops in order to educate participants, among other things, in the proper use of technological tools for communication and information resources complementary radio production and audiovisual such as:
Stream video.
Stream audio.
Edition platform,
Management of free software.
Digital design.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
The “Hijos de la Tierra” project has collaborated on journalistic coverage of events and information dissemination in multiple socio-environmental movements and struggles as MAPDER or Rema; has also developed diagnostic and community communication strategies, training and specializing in independent media consultancy.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
Our main challenge is to have a good call, in time for its good organization and dissemination. We will overcome this obstacle organizing previous events in order to cheer up people to participate in our workshops.
