Society of Education Research for Village Improvement and Community Empowerment, a NGO based at Namakkal in Tamilnadu,India. We have been working for the various issues of disability in Namakkal & Karur districts in Tamilnadu,India with community & institution based approaches. We also run a special school for the mentally challenged children. We would like to bring in the participation of the medical experts, trainers, physiotherapists and other resource agencies to the rehabilitation of the disabled children in various forms and to create a virtual resource pool to address these issues.

Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
We primarily address the needs of differently-abled children and their rehabilitation process in its entirety. We work with various stakeholders- medical experts, physiotherapists, special teachers, disability trainers, people in the community, philanthropists, parents, volunteers, positive speakers within differently abled persons whom all have access to internet. With the specific needs of the individuals- the efforts from all of them ensured for the rehabilitation and to provide other support services. This will serve a unique learning virtual forum for the upcoming special teachers. We also engage them as interns. By this, we ensure all the resources are effectively inter-linked for the holistic rehabilitation and the service delivery systems of the needy children in Namakkal.
Who else will be on your team to help implement the project?
The Secretary of our SERVICE NGO- Mr.P. R. Chandrasekaran himself is a master trainer in disability in Tamilnadu. The program design and the documentation will be made by the trained staff of SERVICE. Our partner NGO called WORD (http://www.wordorg.net) has helped us in designing and hoisting our website and made us in our online presence. Their IT team will be helping us to implement this unique project technically. The resources can also be had from our networking stakeholders, Government departments and partner NGOs in Namakkal District- Consortium of Namakkal NGOs who are working for various social development issues in Namakkal District.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
For each differently abled children, the rehabilitation process is unique with special care, techniques, home and community based care, institutional support, family education, setting up developmental milestones, follow up, medical and physical care etc.,Besides, we also refer them to attain various support services from the Government.We also impart & referring them to employable vocational training. These are done by our programs through SERVICE and through networking with various service providers. All the stages of rehabilitation process, roles of various stakeholders, achieving development milestones, news updates on various services and government programs, news about special camps & programs will be the core content of this program.

SERVICE NGO had its excellent record in working with the rehabilitation and with the support services for the differently abled persons at the grass root level in Namakkal District since 1995. The existing experience in the field, technically trained team, able guidance by the secretary of SERVICE, partnership with the Government, existing relationship and co-ordination with the local NGOs, community groups, service delivery and support agencies at the National and the state level which whom we have associated and the target community will all contribute this unique program to a greater success.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
We aim to train 500 through this program in one year time. We ensure all will actively engage in the rehabilitation services of the differently abled children in at least one component in the process chain. Periodical resource sharing webinars will be held among the associated persons of resource pool. Special Programs will be conducted at periodical intervals in various parts of Namakkal District with the active participation from the resource team through this project. The members will supplement and compliment to various efforts put forth by the resource persons that will benefit the needy children in the community. This will ensure the sustainability of the entire drive that will be initiated by SERVICE.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
We at SERVICE have the technical skills on presentation on the rehabilitation process through brochures, short videos, write ups, case studies, demonstration in the field to train the partners. As this will be served over by the internet to the appropriate persons who are interested, it will be great boon to all of them to work together within a short time and with efficiently.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
We have 2 computers with our base with broadband internet connects that will be used to launch this program.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
We are an effective service provider cum capacity building agency for the community that we service from the year 1985. We have all the necessary infrastructure, resources, experience, trained manpower, relationship with all the stakeholders and with the Government, legal validity to address the issues of the differently abled community. To fulfill the needs of the community, either we work alone with tailor made programs or networking with the appropriate agencies. We are dedicating ourselves for the total rehabilitation of the differently abled children in Namakkal District.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
The rehabilitation technique and its longevity for every children is different. As we have the dedicated trained manpower and with the community participation we will overcome this.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
The evaluation on the success of the project will be done by the key indicators such as: No of persons joined in our resource pool, No of online posts made by them, no of webinars attended by them, no of children benefited out of this program, no of services availed for the children by the partners, no of successful case-studies and acknowledgments, no of special programs conducted, no of special teachers trained and engaged in the program, no of linkages made with various agencies etc. All this will be uploaded in the social media, websites and the blogging sites.

All the activities will be completed within a time frame of one year.
