What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
After he trainings in the citizen journalism media skills, we want the communities to be able to produce inspiring and practical videos in their communities which they can share with other communities around the world
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
Clear shots media group aims at working with cooperate companies around the region which we hope to hire us and document there activities and impacts through out the year. These will help to bring in more income to help facilitate the training program. We also hope to work with the raising voices. If we get the grant, this will even help Clear Shots Media Group to ease it's work.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
For starters, we want want to train over 30 community members from different parts of Uganda who would go back in their communities to become our ambassadors. If our partnerships with cooperate companies go through, we hope to make some income which we can use to scale up our training program.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
I want to employ the unemployed video makers in my connections who will help me train the young people. We shall use equipment like the video camcorders for recording video, microphones for sound and computer to train them how to edit there work. My team will also train them how to use media skills to empower there communities. This technology is the most appropriate because it's the one we need to produce impact-full videos to our communities
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
We shall need a class room which can accommodate 35 people with 35 desks, We shall need 16 computers. One will be for the trainers. The other 15 computers will be shared by two students per each.
We want to have 15 camcorders for the students to use as they learn. We shall also have a 3G+ WiFi internet connection for all the computers.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
Since 2011, I have been working with different communities around my country. I have been documenting the successful stories which are inspiring and practical that others have been using to improve there lives. As I was doing this work, I thought that if there was 10,000 people doing what I exactly do with my skills how would the world look like? I have also got different youths from different communities asking me to train them my skills. That's how I came up with this idea and I have a lot of youths interested in learning my skills
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
Always the beginnings of everything are rough and we don't expect a smooth beginning. Challenges we may have would be managing our training program to be a success. Another challenge would be securing income generating projects which could make this training program a long term activity. The way we hope to overcome these challenges is by creating partnerships with other companies who can hire us to document there work on video and also sponsoring some of our trainings.
We shall also work so hard to give our trainees the best training they could never imagine of.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
After doing through my training program, We will have a survey form which will be filled up with all the attendees and the main question will be how they would hope to use the skills they have learnt from us. We shall also do followups with those who have attended our training and see how they are using the skills.
We also hope to employ a few who go under our trainings as part of the team. That way, we believe our impacts will easily be measured and tracked.
If your project were to be selected as a Rising Voices grantee, what would be the general timeline of project activities in 2014?
If we are selected as the Raising Voices grantee, we would organize and start our trainings in July. We would do a one months non training morning to late afternoons with the young people.
We would first sit down and make a clear plan for the training and then afterwords invite in those who have the biggest passion for the training program.
