Madagascar: Blog Awards
Madagascar is a country where Internet takes bigger and bigger place. Betwen 2007 and 2011, the number of internaut has quadriplued. People look after informations, jobs and several opportunities. Blogs can respond to these several needings however blogging word is quiet weel-known yet. There are bloggers whon leaved adventures because of a lack of motivation and recognition. That's why the idea of a “Madagascar Blog Awards” to contribute in the spreading of freedom of expression.
Bolivia: SW Chaski (Incas Messenger) Keep Running
The project involves the recovery, restoration, classification and production of a digital archive of a part and some sections of the children's magazine “The Chaski” published in Bolivia between the 80s and 2000, for posterior publication in a Web Site who contribute development and integral education of Bolivian children in school age, creating a space for free expression and promotion of reading and writing through digital supports as a first step to stop the digital divide: proposing from the website an information and interaction place for children.
Colombia: Virtual Grandfathers
Watching our sector where we find the adult population and the elderly, intended reduce the technological gap, taking advantage enthusiasm we observe in the population we decided focus our efforts in offer a program which we allow begin a process of formation TIC whit us, in this learning the most basic for rapprochement to computer equipment and later learning the management of the different program of the Microsoft office and management of the website, with these basic tools they can express their experiences and tell their stories
Nigeria: Grassroots Women's Tech Voice for Peace Building
The training of trainers workshop will focus on equipping indigenous women living in the front lines of conflicts (who are involved in peace efforts and or victims, survivors or witnesses) with digital knowledge and citizen media skills that will help them document and share their stories on and best practices in conflict resolution and peace building, with a global audience. These women are the most vulnerable in conflict situations and they lack time, skills and opportunities that will amplify the efforts they are making to promote love, dialogue, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
Kenya: Africa Stories Project
Kenya has over 40 tribes that make a rich and diverse culture. Each of these have distinctive rich stories that have been passed on from generation to generation around fireplaces in the rural areas. These stories were used to teach morals, etiquette, and other social norms, to preserve traditions, and to act as oral historic records of family migrations, significant occurrences and so on.Since most of these stories were passed on orally, there are very few written or recorded accounts in existence. We therefore want to capture these stories and preserve a large knowledgebase of our stories.
Nigeria: Acting to Keep Children Safe and Alive
The project theme ‘Acting to Keep Children Safe and Alive’ illustrates the need for proactive as well as preemptive steps to keep children safe and help increase their chances of survival in their infancy stage and beyond. This project is aimed at empowering people to take action in improving their own health and the health of their family at home, starting at birth. It also gives the public and participants an opportunity to empower or guide people through policy and technology changes, as well as introduce them to new health and safety options as they become available in a community context.
Bolivia: Building Macro-Worlds with Micro-Histories
The project aims to see registered and represented the view of the inhabitants of Villa Coronilla, an outlying neighborhood of Cochabamba, through the use of technology, creativity and forming modes, using a free network enabled to enhance the logic of sharing and creating together through active feedback with hackers, activists, artists, journalists and other citizens. Our work will be done from three areas: specific training about creativity, training in the use of equipment, and training in the use of networks to connect and dialogue.
Guatemala: Kemok – Weaving Indigenous Communities and Networks
The initiative aims to boost www.kemok.com a online platform to democratize the right to freedom of expression of indigenous peoples in Guatemala, making use of the Castilian language, Xinka, Garifuna and the 22 Mayan languages. The project will provide training opportunities, using the methodology for trainers in the use of digital tools to provide feedback on the virtual platform with the idea of constantly updating the content. After receiving the training, beneficiaries using the same methodology for trainers, they replicate the the knowledge acquired in their respective communities.
Armenia: PlaceToSpeak – Voice of Armenian Refugees of Syria
The project is aimed to promote assistance to enforce social activism on a higher level among Syrian- Armenian repatriates and refugees of civil war, living in Armenia. We aim to help Syrian-Armenian refugees and the Armenians who remain in Syria to share the information about their life in new places or the current situation in the regions they have left in Syria through expert coaching and digital tools. We will provide necessary trainings and assistance to those participants who have difficulties with using computer or accessing Internet, blogging and sharing through social media platf
Brazil: Boca do Mundo
We wish to publish online an e-book about Boca de Rua, which has been for nearly 14 years the only newspaper written and sold by homeless people in the world. We also pretend to develop a series of workshops in order to integrate the redaction group of Boca de Rua to the edition/promotion process. Besides introducing to a new media (internet) the street population of Porto Alegre – where Boca de Rua has been edited since 2000 – our project aims to encourage other groups of any country and city to tempt a similar experience.
