Algeria: Aith Ourthilane Voices

My project consists on creating a Radio (internet and radio wave) for my local community.We will set up an internet radio station open to local and communitarian use. The oral tradition and storytelling roots are rich as music and culture in order to give more chances and tools to a great number of peoples espicially youngs implanting in this region to express free and with their native language and share their own stories, their culture and their mores and issues important to them in their daily life and let him to produce and innovate audio podcasts

Brazil: Rural Communication – and Far Becomes Close

The current proposal refers to work with the rural youth about public communication made by the community, for the community. The objective is, to recapture the roots of their stories and to narrate these by audio podcasts and in the local radio as well as to encourage those young people to form a managing group of a communal radio, which is also responsible for the communication with Rising Voices. Realizing the activities using free software, we have the intention to instruct the recording techniques, the audio edition and the publication on internet.

Mexico: The South of South is Liberated Music

We propose to contribute towards strengthening the Mayan language and Yucatecan spanish by thinking of the problems in our communities and proposing solutions by composing music, being us the ones who can give ourselves a voice. Our proposal is to provide workshops with young leaders of music projects in different communities of Yucatan, to build strategies for collaborative musical composition with themes that affirm our culture in our present. Our goal is to create 10 songs as a result of the proposed group workshops about the problems and solutions that we collectively construct.

Brazil: Ecommunicators of Bodoquena

Collect a large amount of used cooking oil, supplied by schools and restaurants of Bodoquena-MS/Brazil city and transform this residue into liquid or solid soap through a course provided for the local community. Alongside we offer blog, radio, signaling workshops, involving participants in a big campaign to raise the community’s enviroment awareness. It is intended to empower low-income people by providing an economic incentive (selling soap), thus also contributing so the oil is not disposed of incorrectly and invinting them to be multipliers of the enviromental message.

Ukraine: School Radio Space

School Radio Space is an educational project for students of school in province Ukrainian city Kremenchuk. Main aims of project are activation of local school youth communities, teaching youth of basic principles of citizen journalism, developing local Internet-radio Space. Objects of our project are: 1) to organize 13 training sessions for 120 activists among Kremenchuk school youth; 2) encourage youth to make topical audio-news about their school, local community, and city; 3) to publish and promote their podcasts on Internet radio platform Space – http://www.prostir.org.ua/

Mexico: Zapotecan Zaachila Language Documentation and Revitalization

There are not accessible grammars or dictionaries of Zaachila. Our research group has the aim to document and revitalize the language through the oral literature in a series of workshops, where together with speakers of Zaachila and other members of the community (children) we will produce a booklet with traditional short stories narrated by different speakers of Zaachila and translated into Spanish and English and a talking dictionary online. The process will be filmed with the intention to make a documentary where the speakers can give their impressions about their language and identity.

Bosnia Herzegovina: Little Radio for Big Ears

The project will thus target two marginalized groups and engage adolescents without parental care in a 4 week radio production education course, during which they will learn how to use open digital platforms and technology to produce one radio feature and how to broadcast it online. Participants’ practical exercise will consist of conceptualizing and producing a radio feature on a social position of adolescents with seeing problems. Radio feature is final result, its creation is the education and its message is a perspective of the society and the world trough the eyes of blind girls and boys.

To Increase the presence of indigenous women in community radio as spokeswomen and content creators to promote both gender equity and justice in all spheres of life, through the production of radio spots that put indigenous women as expert spokeswomen for this; it is necessary to have minimal materials that permit the production of spots such as audio recorders.

Nepal: Saving Indigenous Voices

The project seeks to document the indigenous folklores of Eastern Nepal which is on the verge of extinction. The project will search and document the folklores, meeting with the original artists who are approaching their seventies and eighties and the tradition seems to be extinct after their death. The folklores like Birhain, Chachair, Parati which are sung at a particular time of the day will be recorded in SounCloud and disseminated widely.

Egypt: Beautiful Age Radio

Establishing a Radio on the Internet oriented for the elderly . Elderly are preparing the articles radio by themselves . They choose and prepare the content :old Songs & Music , Talk about their experiences and suffering associated with aging. I hope to achieve accustoming the elderly to use computers & Internet , Communication among Elderly and between them and the younger, highlighted the elderly and their problems. The project is implemented through : Organizing two workshops to train 30 elderly about preparing radio materials, recorded and upload it on internet.
