Guatemala: Tz'utujil Tziij Pa Nimk'atz

  April 7, 2014

This is a proposal that brings us to promote the use of tz'utujil Mayan language in social networks. The tz'utujil speakers do not write in Mayan language in social networks. If they do send messages in Spanish. We hope that by the end of it increase the number of people communicating in their native language writing and social networking. An awareness campaign on the network will be developed and sensitization workshops were moved to the use and strengthening of the language in the media. Especially work with promoters tz'utujil language and youth leaders of each community. Traslate of google

Tanzania: The Global Suitcase Network (TGSN)

  April 4, 2014

TGSN is an international mutual aid community without borders united by an online portal. TGSN provisions rural community groups with supplies for small scale community improvement projects & provides information on the assets and needs of these communities to members and the world at large. It is a niche project that utilizes international travelers to carry material supplies identified by rural groups at the TGSN portal. With the help of a local support person, groups will document the use of these supplies by creating a photo blog hosted by TGSN. Travelers expand their view of the world.

Nigeria: Tweet Yoruba

  April 4, 2014

The project provides a platform on twitter for speakers of Yoruba in Nigeria and around the world. Like the famous @sweden project, the twitter account @TweetYoruba will feature a new Yoruba speaker every fortnight, and their role will be to express themselves fully in Yoruba. The project seeks to fill a void on twitter for Yoruba speakers. Currently, there is none or few twitter accounts where one can read ONLY in Yoruba language. The domineering nature of English has crowded out the voices of local languages. Through this project, we will empower more people to use the L1 on social networks.

Ukraine: Local Community in Charge of Changes!

We are going to create a big public site-platform for local community which reflect problems and cravings of community and will content local bloggers, who have what to say to community. We will encourage local citizens to participate actively in community life using our TOOL. We are going to administrate the site, make promotion to share information about the platform using free services and social networks like Twitter, Facebook, Vkontakte, Instagram and Google+. We will provide trainings for older people to encourage them to join the site and share their questions and problems

Guatemala: Open Government and the Guatemalan Congress

  March 31, 2014

This project proposes to advocate the principles of open government as they apply to Congress throughout Guatemala, raising awareness of the important functions performed by this institution as well as the mechanisms by which citizens can engage their representatives. It will consist of a series of workshops tailored to both high school and university students from the countryside. We want to elicit young citizens to empower themselves, find ways to organize to participate in democracy in order to demand actions from their representatives and, above all, question the status quo.

Kenya: Free to Be Me Without Drugs

  March 30, 2014

Drug abuse is prevalent in Malindi. Finding strategies for drug abuse prevention and rehabilitation of users are some of the things that the society is trying to do. My proposal is to use digital media to highlight the issues surrounding drug abuse. This includes adverse effects of drug abuse like HIV prevalence, violence against women, the struggles of drug addicts and why it is so easy for drugs to find their way into the society. Our proposal is to train young people on how they can use the digital platform to blog and share their stories on these issues in an effort to eradicate drug abuse
