Nigeria: Where Is Home?

Islamic Insurgents (Boko Haram) have terrorised thousands of Nigerians in the North. Terrorism in the Northern Nigeria has led to displacement of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians, most of whom are now refugees in other parts of Nigeria. However, the condition of these Nigerians as well as refugees has been overlooked. This project seeks to look into the plight of these Nigerians who're now refugees in their own country. Some select refugees in Ibadan, Western Nigeria, will be trained with some multimedia tools (e.g. phones, sound recorders, etc) to get international attention to their plight

Lithuania: Vilnius Roma Tell Their Own Story

Roma settlement of Kirtimai is regularly portrayed in the media as a “drug nest”, and the inhabitants of the settlement are accused of being unable to be a part of civilized society. Having much negative experience with national and local press, the Roma of Kirtimai are now being very closed from the rest of the society, which makes inclusion even more problematic. Using the participatory video methods five young members of this Roma community will their own story of life in this settlement and share their daily experiences, challenges and dreams.

India: Uplift Tribal Women's Life Through Social Media

The organization proposes to inculcate technological aptitude in the form of imparting the art of using Social Media to the tribal women of backward areas of the Northern India with the purpose of amplifying their voices thus helping their stories to reach out to the entire world by training them to master over the skills of social media and technology. They will be taught to operate computers first, then internet services followed by multimedia Mobile phones.

Romania: Grassroots Storytelling

By the project Grassroots storytelling we aim at developing a better understanding of the main features of this community, both inside and outside it. By empowering the member with the online media tool, we can contribute to their visibility and other people awareness of this amazing mix of ethnies in harmony and peace. By trainings, Living Libraries with the old members of the community and social meeting of sharing knowledge on the history and traditions of the community, we can make the students of the local high-school have a real sense of belonging to something special as Macin.

Philippines: Climate School Digital Activism Project

It is a media workshop that builds the capacity of schoolteachers in Tacloban in documenting experiences of children after Typhoon Haiyan, the impacts of climate change on them as well as aide the psycho-social therapy of children affected by the disaster, and through this, move the government to actively fight for climate justice. The 2-day workshop will tackle citizen journalism, video-making, photography, blogging, & children's rights in the context of disasters & climate change. The outputs is a microsite & social media accounts where blogs produced by the teachers will be posted & shared.

India: Glimpses – Through the Eyes of a Child

We intend to undertake this project with groups of children in slums and shelter homes and give them an opportunity to photo-document various aspects of their daily lives. Selected children within each group will be trained in the use of digital cameras to capture moments which THEY think are important as they undergo their daily routines. Photos will be shortlisted by the groups themselves and annotated in local language and English. Selected photos will be uploaded online and also presented at an exhibition event for the general public and at select elite educational institutions.

Cameroon: Bringing Voices Seldom Heard to Online Community

Our project seeks to create an active and direct online connection between voices seldom heard and the global online community through citizen media. It gives citizen journalists the tools and know-how to do live recording of testimonies of victims of human rights abuses in their immediate communities so we stream them on our online human rights TV, dignity television. We believe that those who have suffered violence need not suffer further indignity by remaining silent.This sacred space for victims of violence against women, girls and children is free at point of entry and at point of exit

Albania: Pa Fokus Magazine

Pa Fokus is an online magazine dedicated to you, bridging experiences from urban to rural context through promoting media tools such and story telling. Another project paralleled with Pa Fokus is “Fol Shpejt” which in a sort of way develops everything the magazine develops in an online form through a more physically and direct experience with others and socializing. These two projects help the community in Albania, to gather up and keep updated about several feeds and activities that each of the cities and rural places are up to, also helps to promote an active citizenship.

Uganda: Save Mothers and Children

Despite Ugandan government efforts, over 16 women still die every day due to preventable and treatable pregnant-related complications. Child mortality rate is unacceptably high. The death of mothers and children remain invisible. Building on its advocacy efforts to improve child and maternal health in Uganda, Angels Compassion (a not-for-profit registered NGO: Reg. no: 9392) now proposes to organise 5-day hands-on workshops to train 20 college/University girls in using photography, stories, emails and blogs to report child and maternal health challenges in Uganda.

Telling our stories directly online and on air will keep us up to date of what is happening elsewhere in the country and in the world at the moment it is happening. By accessing direct television news and give feedback by SMS , internet based communication (Twitter and Facebook) to share with the rest of the country and the world what is happening to the community in daily life at the moment it is happening will improve on overall skills. This will be done by gathering the community before a screen and two computer all connected with TV channel and internet.
