The proximal scope of the project is to empower individuals with mental illness to speak out about their illness. The distal scope of the project is to reduce mental illness stigma in the general public. To meet these aims, we propose to train five individuals with mental illness, proficient in computer and internet usage, to generate original and search engine-optimized content for a blog that will insightful present the individuals behind the derogatory labels and their recovery stories.
The project theme ‘Acting to Keep Children Safe and Alive’ illustrates the need for proactive as well as preemptive steps to keep children safe and help increase their chances of survival in their infancy stage and beyond. This project is aimed at empowering people to take action in improving their own health and the health of their family at home, starting at birth. It also gives the public and participants an opportunity to empower or guide people through policy and technology changes, as well as introduce them to new health and safety options as they become available in a community context.
To make a portal that will contain all relevant information regarding menstrual health and hygiene where women can ask questions, share stories, blogs, etc. Also, to introduce an anonymous phone helpline where 250 women of village Chharba (in Uttarakhand) can ask questions, which would be directed to the portal by trained Anganwadi workers. A panel of specialists from a regional hospital will entertain aforementioned queries once a week via a videolink and also answer on portal.The documentation of videolink will be printed and distributed among village women and also uploaded on portal.
Carrying out this project we’ll help young people (18-35 years old) with mental health issues to tell their stories and connect with each other. Through storytelling trainings they’ll learn the best way to share their experiences and use of coping mechanism and through training for blogging they will gain skills for increasing their visibility. Furthermore, though this process people with mental health issues will be transformed from passive consumers of mental health care into experts by experience. Simultaneously MH practitioners will gather more data from narratives within social context.
This is a “Train the Trainee” workshop on accessing online breast cancer information for 20 deaf persons consisting of 16 women and 4 men. Much as breast cancer is a disease that has a woman’s face, we recognize that men do have breast cancer hence the inclusion of male participants. This project aims to bridge the gap between the deaf community in Nigeria and accessing breast health information in order to build their capacity to fight against the disease. A 2- session (morning and afternoon) workshop is being proposed scheduled for 2 hours per session on Fridays and Saturdays for 8 weeks.

CANCER (Cooperation & Assistance for Narcotic Control for Enlighten Human Resources) Project aims to educate/capacitated to local level administration and community for ensuring smoke free environment involving UP/Village Courts.
Insulin is a lifesaving medication needed for survival of people living with type 1 diabetes. Despite being used for 92 years to treat type 1, millions in the world don’t have access. The 100 Campaign is a movement founded by insulin access advocates working to mobilize the global action needed to achieve 100% access by the 100th anniversary of insulin’s first use. This project aims to 1) amplify and humanize the voices of those from the around the world who are living with diabetes 2) share first-hand the barriers that many experience 3) foster a global community 4) low cost advocacy tool.
This project aims to involve all categories of youth to create awareness on hygiene and sanitation issues affecting our community. Efforts made by the government NGOs to give the Kenema City a facelift. Because young people are fond of mobile phones, it will be a good opportunity to use this channel of communication to adopt environmental cleaning. This project intends to sensitize 55% of the youth population on promoting behavior change in the township. This is done by using mobile phones, internet, Face book, MP3, Digital camera, Bluetooth etc. Their voice, views and opinion would be heard
