The project “Link towards democratization” aims to encourage the youngsters from Moldova to identify the problems their places of origin encounter as well as to draw a map of these issues and to create a radiography of this society through their lens. We are interested to find out how the young people prioritize the social problems such as unemployment, poverty, corruption, minority discriminations, and the persistence of a cold conflict.

After the rebellions of April 2009, the Internet has become an instrument for democratization of Moldova’s society. Here, the Internet is the second source of information after T.V, but news portals or social networks are still new phenomena in Moldova. There is gap between the capital and the districts regarding the access to Internet. A democratic society counts upon the use of Internet by the citizens actively engaged in community’s life.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Not only do we want to identify the problem, but to find solutions! We support the genuine engagement of the youngsters in community’s life through the participation in the decisional process, through the identification and settlement of a problem they encounter. Through this project we want to encourage any kind of material- news, editorial, photo, video-consisting of two elements: the problem and the solution.

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
In three years of existence of the portal we managed to bring in discussion different problems specific to the society of Moldova, catching the interest of other media institutions, non-governmental organizations and especially the interest of the citizens due to the content of the materials. We collaborate with five youngsters from Moldova and Romania, but we also collaborate with different non-governmental organizations from both countries.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
In out project we will involve 41 young people, one from each district of Moldova, from three municipalities (Bălţi, Bender, Tiraspol) and from the autonomous region Găgăuzia. The youngsters will have the opportunity to become a voice of the community of origin and to state their vision on the social problems encountered, as well as to formulate solutions in order to solve these problems through publishing articles on InfoPrut site.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
InfoPrut will give the youngsters access to the webpage where they will voice their problems and the suggested solutions, as well as the human resources necessary for their minimal instruction in the mass-media domain and social networking. If necessary, InfoPrut will help them to voluntary edit materials in order to make them accessible to a larger public.
