Disability in Uganda is largely associated with witchcraft and as a result PWDS are stigmatized and discriminated in the social network of society. We hope to fight this through raising awareness among the local communities by creating a platform where parents can freely share their experiences/ testimonies in raising these children and later to be able to advocate for their rights. These stories will be captured in newsletters and broadcasted.

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The project will strongly work with families that are raising children with disabilities to be able to capture stories on how they cope with raising these children. Also communities will be involved in order to create awareness on the discriminatory practices in the area. Then local community structures such as local authorities will be involved to handle any case of child abuse reported.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The family testimonies on raising a child with a disability, The coping strategies employed by families, the strength and challenges in raising these children. We shall also act as a center of information to be able to publish parent friendly newsletters that offers referrals and advice on issues of children disability. Printing of t-shirts, flyers and use of radio talk shows will be vital in this program.

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Angel's center has already partnerships with Special Education Professional Kenya, they provide technical information and trainings on different disabilities and how they can be managed. Currently we are implementing an early learning program for children with special needs supported by STAD Antwerp in Belgium. Through this parents are mobilized to reach out to other families in a similar situation. The district local government of Wakiso.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The participants can be categorized; The parents support group will be comprised of 20 participants. They will be trained in managing and coping with different disabilities, how to give testimonies, to capture stories and how they can disseminate the information. This group is already part of Angel's Center and they have activities they are participating in. We have follow up forms and all our activities will be reported in newsletter.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We seek support in establishing a resource center that will be fully fledged with computers to provide online health support and information that will help them cope with managing children with disabilities and their families. We hope to have a strong research department
