The project will train 50 young women from the college and university level. The social media is the new emerging tool through which the girls can address the problems and issues in the society while living in Balochistan, Pakistan. The girls will get the training how they can promote their stories while using the social media/blogging/online media and effective content writing. The society which is lacking behind many things and which is completely male dominated. Women's are less educated and less empower after getting this training they will get the sense of social media.

Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
The total population of the Capital city Quetta is 1 million. The women who will get training would be from the two universities ( University of Balochistan) and (Bahadur Khan Women University )and two colleges ( Government girls college Quetta) (Islamia girls college located in the Capital.
In Balochistan, women’s education is not good enough due to the systematic biased discriminatory policies. Also, it is fortunate to know that in the country’s least educated province women are often encouraged to get education by their parents. But, in spite of it, the state of women’s education is not satisfactory due to lack of the educational facilities, institutions, and the negligence of the government that has not been doing enough to take practical steps for the improvement of women’s education.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The participants will get the training regarding social media , use of social media, they will be trained how to use word press and how they can do blogging.Later the session would train them how they can use online story telling techniques to highlight their challenges and problem which they are facing in a tribal and male dominated society.
We would guide them how to write effectively and to promote their content online.

I have a very strong connection with my University Media department and my College.My team members are highly active in the society .They participate in different events .They are the active reporters and media personals. Our idea would be highly appreciated by the organization which we are interested to work with.

Maximum 80 girls from two colleges and 2 universities.

The workshop will take place in Quetta Serena Hotel.Which is secure and provide good environment to the girls. They have the free internet access, power point presentation .We would be requesting the participants to bring their own laptops or we would rent it .Depending upon their needs
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
I am working as a reporter and journalist from the last 10 years in the same community .I am a member of women foundation and a member of Human Rights Society of Pakistan.
I usually visit university and colleges as a guest speaker to encourage women role in the male dominated society. I help victimized women and I am fighting for their rights from the last 5 years as a Human Rights activist.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
Threats from the community. Budget challenges as $2500 is a very less amount.
Selecting Serena hotel accommodation is the only reason that the girls would feel secure due to the high alert security. This is the not the first time that I can expect any challenge from the male dominated society but I am ready to face any challenge but giving girls the media training I guess would not be hard.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
At the end of the training I would ask the participants to do a survey on Survey monkey.Where they will address the achievements of the training. We would be doing a video story as well ,If the participants agree to record their comments on Camera otherwise we will encourage them to write a blog about their experience.Or use the Social media ,tweet about our training and what they have learned and how in future we can improve this.
If your project were to be selected as a Rising Voices grantee, what would be the general timeline of project activities in 2014?
The project will start from July and will end in August. We will conduct three training sessions.
For which we just need to ask the universities and colleges to nominate the students.
And the project can be completed within two months.

Besides the microgrant funding, what other support can Rising Voices provide for your project to ensure its success?
The budget is very tight it could not allow me to ask coordinators to come from Islamabad to Quetta ,which will increase their travel and accommodation charges that will double the cost of the project.
After the success of the first project I would expect the Rising Voices to fund me for more similar projects so that female students get more training and can become the voice of the society.
