Radio Reflejos is the voice of the Fundación Reflejos de Venezuela, and our purpose is to educate and inform in humans values, and give to the LGBTI community a space to show that we are citizens as well. Our work is to construct a new paradigm based on visibility and new references. We believe that this change of vision will reflect in the perception and in consequence in the reivindication of the Human Rights of the LGBTI’s

What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Caracas and San Antonio de los Altos are the main and backup control center, but we have volunteers from over 14 different cities WorldWide
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
As members of the LGBTI Community we felt misrepresented by most of the radioweb experiments that made emphasis in the usual and safe vision of the party. We needed and space to express ourself as members of the community, families, fathers, son and as political and social entities. We want to show that we are diverse, and we are part of the society and we take part of the everyday live. We work FOR and FROM the LGBTI community for a better world
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
We are producing, creating and publishing podcasts and live content of: micros, themed programs, talk shows, interviews, testimonials, of the vision of LGBTI, parents, friends and family, about human right issues, both locally and global, living as citizens, activism, public politics, sexual and reproductive health, among others.

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Nationally with: PLAFAM, Proadopcion, IMPROSEXUAL, IPYS, we are members of SINERGIA, and currently manage the LGBT NETWORK of Amnesty International. We work with La Universidad del Zulia LUZ, Universidad Católica Andrés Bello UCAB and Universidad Central de Venezuela UCV. Abroad we are members of the FLG España, Familias por la Diversidad (FDS) – Hispanoamerica, “EL TOQUE” produced by Radio Netherland, OTD – Chile, Artegalia Radio – España.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
Our goal is (weekly) 10 live programs in the prime time (6pm – 9pm), 20 prerecorded during day, 5-10min micros on Human Rights and Sexual Health, and 24/7 broadcasting. Each program have (min) 1 or 2 anchors, 1 producer and 1 operator. We train our volunteers to record and podcast, and in the use of social networks. Our Website have around 170.720 visits (2012). 52.000 podcast downloads. 4.050 twitter followers, and over 9000 in Facebook.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We need to cover the expenses of ISP, and the hosting and streaming, we also need: A new PC (we are broadcasting from a Pentium Core Duo and we need to go portable), 6 USB Condenser microphones, 2 usb mixers consoles, 4 microphone stands, 2 portable voice recorders, photo/video camera, 2 licenses from the broadcasting software (Spacial Audio Sam Broadcaster, 1 for each control center), 1 multifunction office printer, 1 wifi-usb videobeam.
