Youth are excluded in many undertakings and this negatively affects them. In our district youth don’t have forums to discuss issues and be heard by the decision makers. This project will promote open discussions and networking through training the youth and community members to use Facebook, twitter and group blogs to advocate for the improved youth welfare in areas such as HIV prevention, entrepreneurships, girls education, and risky lifestyles

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.

As the world is advancing technologically most of youth in our area have phone but they don’t know how use them for online discussions. YOHAD will work with them to ensure that they are trained how to use their phones and computers to get connected.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
YOHAD envision that the project will help youth to effectively discuss the key drivers of HIV and AIDS and possible solution to minimize the risk; role of the youth in the fight against climate change; gender based violence and human rights, risk lifestyle that risk quality of life; child abuse, girls education; and entrepreneurship. As these will be stories for discussion it is anticipated that youth will reduce the impact of these issues.

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.

Private and Public secondary schools will be partnered with as one way of enabling more youth access and use the computers for online discussion. This approach will sustain the project when Rising Voices stop funding.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The project will train 180 youth from different social background. The project participants’ focus will be underprivileged and vulnerable youth so that their voice is heard. Participation of the trained participants will be sustained through the formation of 18 clusters with 10 members in each. Members will be conducting meetings to discuss on how they are faring in the use of online discussion and on the same spot addressing the challenges faced
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
YOHAD request Newsletters, online discussion, webinar workshops, and use of Skype with staff members from Rising Voices will help us to achieve the success of the project as we will be able to discuss the progress of the project and challenges.
