Kibwezi Youth Network project seeks to mobilize, train and encourage the youth in Kibwezi district to use social media to access information and connect with the world. The youth have difficulties in making decision due to lack of exposure, since their concepts of communication knowledge is limited. They will be trained through workshops and encouraged to use citizen media to alleviate the challenges that face them.

The target group is the youth out of school and jobless between 16 – 30 years of age. Due to their lack of appropriate skills they are marginalized and are not in a position to acquire professional jobs except manual jobs. This group of youth given the correct training will improve their living conditions by having a network of support and also seek community development ideas.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The project visualize a community where the youth share the appropriate knowledge, skills, information and have a network of support to improve the lives of the marginalized youths. They will use citizen media to share their experiences on the challenges they face and be able to make informed decision in the following areas;Relationships, Teenage pregnancy, Unsafe abortions, Abandoned and abused children, HIV and AIDS, Drugs and violence.

Worldview is an Organization whose success relies heavily on her ability to work closely with other agencies and it belongs to wider networks of the Kenya AIDS NGOs Consortium (KANCO). Worldview implemented a three-year youth mobilization and communication project funded by ‘The Ford Foundation’. The project set up a Youth Resource Centre with over 550 video programs and 200 books with youth related information and produced three educative videos
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
Worldview targets to train 300 youths. The youths will be identified from different Locations and Sub-locations and trained as TOTs to cover a wider group. They will be directly involved in the implementation of the project right from the start for them to acquire adequate skills to roll it on even after the project exits.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Kibwezi Youth Network project involves extensive field work. A Laptop will be convenience to see the success of the project. Worldview Kenya request for a laptop for the fieldwork.
