Cuba: Mapping the “Neighborhood Cuba”

This project aims at creating an interactive map that pinpoints the too widely scattered community development projects in Cuba. It will contain basic information of each one and the description of its activities through short videos and photo galleries made by journalism students of the University of Havana as part of their training to cover local stories.

  • Interesting project. I have seen the work done by the students and the coordination team, and this could make a direct and useful impact on the promotion of social and local projects in Cuba. Well needed!

This project can change the map of community communication in Cuba, make visible to those working in neighborhoods and mobilize many people about new ways of communicating.

  • Lili

This project would also help to people who have never seen the Internet in Cuba could find sources of funding or support for their community projects through a simple presence on the web …

  • Great project!

  • I think this is a great project that will yield many great insights into the process of community development. Because development is a process, rather than just a set of discreet outcomes, it’s important that the winding roads that lead to a community development project be well documented. Getting to know how Cuban communities “do” development will illuminate many scholars and practitioners across the globe and surely begin rich conversations that could lead to transformative outcomes.
