Mobilize efforts in support of the district of Puyca, in order to highlight its potential and experiences, training high school students, teachers, and local leaders in the use and the importance of photographic documentation as a way of mass diffusion in virtual spaces such as Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter so that the photos may be seen by the most number of people, as well as the authorities of Arequipa.

Puyca
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The population of Puyca (is the poorest district in the Arequipa), and which can be reached by traveling 24 hours by bus. The majority of the town is comprised of the elderly and children, and a number of teenagers. The difficulties in access and communication with the area makes it difficult for assistance to arrive, and as a result little is known about its difficulties, culture, and potential.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The residents of Puyca will be responsible for documenting their experiences, culture, and showcase its potential through photography and short videos, and they will also share these happenings in social networking sites, blogs, in order to raise awareness and mobilize the residents and authorities of Arequipa, which lives mainly in the city.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
My organization “Convergencia Group” has traveled beginning in 2011 to the present date to visit Puyca. The first trip was related to a Christmas campaign and the second trip was related to providing workshops to the teachers. For this work, alliances have been established with the Puyca municipality, alderman, Educational Institutes, NGOS, and private businesses.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
20 students, 10 teachers, and 10 area leaders. For the students and teachers, an alliance with the area's Education Institute, as well as the School Municipality. The trainings will be stimulating because many have not had previous access to the internet. In order to work with area leaders, we will raise awareness letting them know that they can be heard without the need of traveling and leaving their daily tasks behind.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Speakers, institutional backing to establish alliances with other institutions. Publication of the project on your website so that it can be more visible, and allow for greater mobilization of efforts, training in other projects related to the issue of poverty and work in rural areas, ongoing advice to effectively develop the project.
