This project resulted from a workshop held in 2012 with indigenous Terena-Brazil. In the workshop participants produced videos showing the non-indigenous elements of their culture, trying to deconstruct prejudicial thoughts. The result was positive and currently there is a request for more activity. Now the focus is on young people living in indigenous villages in this municipality, which through non-verbal language (graphics), with verbal language, will tell the story of their lives, the community and combat militancy erroneous messages of mass media.

Aquidauana – State Mato Grosso do Sul
Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
The work will be with Young Terena indigenous people, the municipality of Aquidauna, ,the State of Mato Grosso do Sul's – Brazil. Are fairly young field of visual and increasingly present arts in social media (facebook). I want to work with them because they are a new generation who are regions of struggles for land ownership, and directly involved in these actions. By mastering the technologies may represent the cultural and territorial reality through the artistic skills of the native indigenous peoples. Many of these young people in internet access in schools where they attend, and are learning to cope with the technologies. the time is ripe for education for media time and can use them as a way of giving voice to its indigenous people.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The idea will be to improve the designs and creating illustrations, comics, cartoons, etc.. This choice is made because they are people of unwritten origin. Through the development and use of different materials (crayons, paint, colored pencils, etc.), we will send the students to create stories in small frames, and distribution of this material digitally (which you will learn to scan and post the final product in facebook) network. We consider also the speed of non-verbal message to the public social networks. We want tell by illustrating the history of the forms of livelihoods that Terena people, myths, everyday youth, cultural traits, record the artwork, dances, play activities.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?

The main partners are the leaders of the villages (almost 9) and indigenous schools in these villages. The first project, which caused these partnerships, was funded by Petrobras Cultural, a program of promotion of Brazil.
Through partnership with the school and the community, will make the selection of participants, as well as organize the venue, dates and times of the workshop.
Another partner is the main indigenous news (https://www.facebook.com/NoticiasTerena), which aggregates news about indigenous issues in Brazil. Beyond those partnerships already confirmed, seek other institutes of indigenous cause that keeps web page (such as Uka is Indian Institute Educa)
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
The forecast is for at least 30 people (the focus being young, but with free entry for adults)
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
Expertise: illustration, painting, creating short journalistic texts for social networking; scanning images in different formats – scanner, mobile, tablets; profiling in social network; power profile in social networking, reading the mass media, to counter misinformation;
These are affordable and technically inexpensive technologies, as to draw the students will need easy resources (paper, pencils, pens). Internet access generally make the handsets or computers in school and when they are in town, the internet café.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
Computer Lab of Indian school with about 10 computers. Internet radio. The school also offers wirelless network. Contains tables to develop drawings.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
I am a member of this community, where my family resides. My brother is an educator of indigenous school and develop actions for development within this village. During my doctoral research projects, realized activities with public funding to produce educational materials and studies of indigenous education.
Within this work we performed for 4 years, research on the best way to provide quality education to children and youth. The proposition that media workshop aims to strengthen the commitment we have with the community, to assist wherever possible (due to distance from the place where I currently live), the development of young people, while highlighting our indigenous culture .
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
The biggest challenges are related to my shift and collecting oficineiros, since I intend to have at least 10 young people from 9 villages in the region.
The feature offered (if approved by the full), allow my transportation to the place, and the organization of these participants during the two days of activities.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
Mete out the results following the postings of images for a period of at least 4 months. This will be guiding the analysis of the development and impact of the project in the group. Will be the subject of analysis, presented in the thematic images, its repercussion. Also we will talk with elders, educators and students so that they can self-assess and evaluate the project.
