One of the notable Rising Voices grantee project was “Empowerment of Yemeni Women Activists in New Media Techniques”, led by Ghaida'a Al Absi. She thought that the EWAMT project is like a candle among other candles, which are lighting up the darkness in Yemen. And it proved right as some of the female participants were bold enough to write about the political upheavals during the Yemen revolution in 2011.

EWAMT: 112 Yemeni Women Received Citizen Media Training

The first phase of the project ‘Empowerment of Women Activists in Media Techniques‘ has been completed. In spite of technical challenges like frequent electricity outages and slow internet, the project trained 112 female bloggers surpassing the target of 100 participants. A certificate distribution ceremony for active bloggers will take place this month.

The trainings will give the targeted community the ability to use Internet in order to publish their point of views, documenting their activities and will give them the space to voice their opinions about issues they are fighting for.
