There are about eight large slums in Bhubaneswar struggling with poverty, unemployment, lack of sanitation facilities, clean drinking water etc. VIEWS would train two volunteers to use the participatory rural appraisal tools (PRA) to identify issues in the various slums and prepare a micro plan. These issues will be documented and uploaded in various social media and blogs on a regular basis thus highlighting them before a larger forum.

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The population in these slums consists of migrants from rural areas who are largely uneducated and lack the knowhow of technology. Except for a few interventions by the state government, this community has largely remained unrepresented online. VIEWS aspires the development of this community, work with them, represent them and make their story heard before a larger audience and bring in change.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Views envisions to create an on line forum where documents on the life of people living in the slums will be made available. Each slum represented by its dwellers will tell their own tale under the title “my story” Audio visual documents , slums maps will be prepared where the community members themselves will narrate the problems faced by them. These clips will be then uploaded to face book , blogs, social networking and the online groups
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?

VIEWS having strong relationship building with women, youth clubs and slums leaders since 5 years. Recently VIEWS conducted micro plan using Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) to understand the water and sanitation issues in this slum area. Government started a project on water and sanitation. We have good relation. With the help of this project, we can raise the voice of slums in front of government to take development projects
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
VIEWS will train two volunteers from the slums area. Volunteers will train 140 members of self help groups and youth clubs on PRA tools like Slum Map, Dream Map. Resource Map, Seasonal Calender, problem tree, solution tree. They will train on using social network, blogs and uploading their stories in the name of Voice of Voiceless from Urban Bhubaneswar
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
After successful implementation of this project, VIEWS will try to raise money inform of small donations from corporates and local civil society organizations to sustain the project activities for well being of poor slums.
