Rescuing Cultures is a project focused on teaching and design strategies for indigenous communities Altos Region of Chiapas Tsotsil-Tseltal so that these indigenous groups to share via social networks and blogs their knowledge and traditional knowledge, customs, traditions, worldviews and how to live with natural resources. This project aims to show everyone the way of life of indigenous cultures, but is told by the main actors.

San Juan Cancuc y Aldama (municipios de Chiapas)
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The project was implemented in the municipalities of San Juan Aldama and Cancuc municipalities of Chiapas Mexico, Both municipalities are classified as the poorest and marginalized Chiapas state. Aldama Township belongs to the native language and San Juan Cancuc Tsotsil the Tseltal language. This project was implemented with young people different ages men and women to be responsible for the creation of blogs and social networks.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
You create through blogs and social networking spaces where indigenous and community knowledge can give their knowledge, traditions, customs, traditional knowledge and skills, worldviews and how to live with natural resources, their tales, legends, myths etc. Social media such as blogs, Facebook and Twitter allow indigenous localities not only to make themselves known at the local or regional, if not be disclosed to a global level.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Currently you have contact with working groups that handle some civil associations within each municipality where the project is, these associations will be responsible for creating and delivering search spaces for workshops, and these organizations which will create links with people to establish the means to allow us to socialize with communities.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
50 people will be trained for each location, in total there will be 100 people of different sexes and ages. The training will focus on each representative of indigenous free to attend any number of people as guests, since the goal is that each community representative take this knowledge and share it locally.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
The project is supported by the “Organization for Social Development, Integral and Sustainable Agricultural and Urban AC” which is located in the city of San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas. This organization with technical support, which have extensive knowledge creation, development and link to blogs and social networks, in addition to speaking the language Tsotsil and Tseltal.
