Create a theatrical performance in our native language, Garifuna on the issue of control over resources that creates differences in power between men and women in rural Belize, Central America. The performance would show the hardship and poverty of women & girls but then ultimately depict them rising from their condition into becoming entrepreneurs, making and selling their coconut oil/cream products online.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Booking venues for the performance, going on the radio as well as the newspaper to tell their story. Utilizing the local cable channel in the town to show the performance. Teaching the women how to promote themselves through blog post and digital photography to document their daily activities.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?

The National Garifuna Council of Belize has been around for 30 years and has agreed to partner with us. The youth group leader for Belize City has coordinated the women's group in Hopkins Village, Belize. Eleanor Bullock, Art Director of GAMAE International will be writing and directing the play.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
4 to 6 will participate in the actual making of the products and will be asked to blog and take pictures of their accomplishments. The theatrical component we hope will sustain the project along with the internet selling of the products. $4,000 US is 8,000 Bze to get them started on equipment and supplies. We will seek to secure additional funding as we promote the project through various internet marketing medium.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We will need computers for the National Garifuna Council Hopkins Village office. We will also need a digital video camera.
