The project is to organize a social camp 2.0 designed to indigenous journalists and local administrators (Head district, school principals, social responsibility, etc.) for learning to use tools “web2.0 for development”, the creation and administration of their blog on the internet. It’s the creation of an open digital identity on the world and sharing stories that affect the lives of Ganvié, city built entirely on water.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Our vision is to give to the beneficiary new skills in the field of social media.
First we will offer beneficiaries training in creating and managing content of a blog. In creating and maintaining an online presence on Twitter, Facebook, Skype ect …
We will also train them using cameras and digital recorder for creating multimedia content online. A social media community will be created after the project.

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
First, it is for us to introduce for the first time the use of social media in an urban lake and where the Internet is almost nonexistent. Then set up a local network of online conversation with a community of journalists and local officials trained in the use of blogs and citizen networks. Finally, we want to face the challenges of empowering beneficiaries to create a digital identity of the lakeside city of Ganvié on the World Wide Web.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
We’re excepting at least 60 participants in the lakeside city of Ganvié. Participants should mainly come from the guild of journalists and local administrators (Head of the district and its employees, directors of schools and learning centers, leaders of social centers and community health, etc.). We’ll make mobilization around the themes to be developed during the various workshops that we organize in order to impact their communities.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Rising Voices can provide technical support and collaborative in our guidance through its various experiences in citizen media. In terms of additional resources, the availability of certain computer equipment and other: such as computers, cameras, recorders, USB key, etc. will allow us to touch more people in the project. It is in this case in general technical support resources additive technologies.
