As an NGO we have been working on rural connection with the youths of different age-brackets through the use of library in providing information and networking, I offer to make inroad into the lives of the youths and women. This project is aimed at using social networks available to provide e-learning and e-connections. I hope to make the youths and women to tap the many resources that ICT and internet can afford and to provide them with links
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Uzii, Ideato North Imo State
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The level of exposure to internet is poor due to the fact that many schools are yet to have access to internet. the students who are supposed to have this knowledge at their formative years lack it and the educational system gives no consideration to this. I want to work with them because i have seen the need to have these youths to get the many advantages that internet and connection can afford in our time and its value towards their development
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
My vision is to see a generation that will emerge and to socialize with their peers around the globe without hindrance. A generation that will be willing to move higher towards making reading and research through the use of ICT and internet for common good. They will form a group that will create a visual program in local radio station that will be run weekly, organize weekly visit to the library and to register with all online social network
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
We have other groups whom we have worked with in the past that will be willing to put up with us again. We have local schools who are willing to get a global exposure. the more we expand the project the better the advantage it offers. Networking with others, e-learning and media involvement have remained the modest tools to bridge the gap that illiteracy and lack of exposure can offer. so this partnership will truly be an eye-opener.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
I hope to train 700 persons for a start. I hope to sustain their participation by getting friendlier ones who in turn will appreciate every input of the project. this will draw others who may make up a higher number. I also plan to make good use of the available tools to make the learning easy, sustainable and interesting. These tools are prepared from a properly conducted program of activities.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
I hope to get few desktop computers for the training. this is cheaper. I want to get also hard-copy of reading materials, writing materials, media attention and support, a community library or school premises etc.
