Obstetric Fistula is one of the most neglected human rights issues in Uganda and yet the women living under the siege of this unthinkable condition face it alone with almost no hope of a better future. Afflicted women cannot escape the ensuing foul odour. We will train the affected and infected women on using digital photography, social media, video documentation to inform duty bearers and the world about their plight and suffering.
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Jinja
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
We will be working with women suffering from obstetric fistula. As their stench grows intolerable, these women begin to lose elements of their social and family networks. Husbands leave their wives, families send their daughters to hidden dwellings or disown them all together and communities forbid these women from selling in the market or collecting water at shared sources. People begin to whisper of disease or curse and no one visits any more.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The world will be able to learn about this reproductive health right issue in Uganda and participate globally. These women will share stories, photographs and
opinions on death of their babies leaving women with constant pain, uncontrolled urine and/or feces, bearing the sadness of their stillborn children, abandonment by their husbands and their societies, unemployment and living without friends and without hope. They will be confident and work.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
We have been working closely with the Ministry of Health and we will strengthen this partnership especially to ensure they treat the fistula patients. We will also work with local government officials andother duty bearers especially in sensitisation, mobilisation and training.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
We will train 50 women living with obstetric fistula. These will later act as Human Rights Advocates and will help mobilising, sensitising and training fellow women later
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We will need two laptops, a digital camera, an LCD Projector and Plasma television set to help us realise the objectives of the project and for sustainability of the project

This is exceptionally good proposal. The problem seems bigger. It is unfortunate in this era and age, women still suffer from such unthinkable problems. We hope you get funding for this project. All the best in your struggle
