Nigeria: Our Culture Our Heritage (OCOH Project)

The project is aimed at restoring and promoting the culture back to its original form through the use of citizen media With the innovation I intend to use the youth from the Efik community to realize and achieve the aim of the project Through the use of modern tools of communications. According to the Nigeria Education policy it is stated that the native language of a particular community should be used in teaching the learners to enhance effective comprehension of what is being taught ,it is the reverse in my locality.With the ocoh project our culture will be promoted.

India: Women's Health Update

This project is on creating awareness on breast cancer among the young rural women workers by voice mail and bulk SMS in Tamil language. By this project we would reach out nearly 20000 rural women of south tamilnadu where breast cancer occurrence is very severe now days. We would also use social networking like Face book to reach the college going girls.

Uganda: The Mobile Photovoice Media for Communities

The Mobile Photovoice Media is a flat form where issue of concern to the community can be publicized and discussions created. (Advertising works for product promoters), in the same way this project can be use to reach the community fast and cheaply. The Photovoice is for 10 people who are born and lived in this area, ignored by the community and their voices have never been heard are able to tell their stories through photos. They suffered the same fate as everyone during the Lord Resistance Army Wars in Northern Uganda. “I would love a photo of myself” that can tell my story!

Proper Information communication technology infrastructure yet to be fully exploited by the residents of Makueni County, the ministry of education has been on the forefront in the utilization of ICT in training especially in secondary schools thereby improving its usage. The main users of ICT services are youth and the salaried workers who use the internet enabled phones and modems. The county needs to improve in ICT training in order to take advantage of the available opportunities especially with the construction of Konza Technpolis City which is located in the county.

Zimbabwe: Amplifying Child Brides’ Voices Through Digital Stories

The project empowers child brides to use digital media platforms to change attitudes that perpetuate the practice of child marriage and educates and mobilises parents and community members to end child marriage. It avails ICTs and makes them accessible to child brides; raises the silenced and forgotten voices of child brides and vulnerable girls; promotes and facilitates child brides’ voices, views, and opinions in the public domain and accurately document child brides’ rights abuse while building a body of knowledge for advocacy purposes to influence policy and legislative change.
