Create a youtube channel and a facebook and twitter page, where local citizen media journalists will be posting the favela (slum) reality, related to violence, corruption, lack of government rules bringing locals minimum support for living like no sewer or water system, diseases, lack of birth control, drugs traffic and all issues related to human living in the favelas, which is a parallel world from the “asphalt” living.

Will be working with 5 pre chosen citizen media journalists from Complexo de São Carlos community (http://vimeo.com/3517567) aged from 15 to 18 years old going to high school, interested on snitch the lack of government rules in their community by using social media such as youtube, facebook and twitter and of course teenagers that are not afraid of filming this type of thing. They would be coordinated by Alexandre Santos Rodrigues (https://www.facebook.com/jovem.cerebral?fref=ts) who is a militant on this community snitching the wrong things going on, promoting culture events in the community raising locals self steem and besides has been a consultant for both movies Tropa de Elite 1 and 2, which makes him a good source for teaching and guide this selected group of teenagers.
Who else will be on your team to help implement the project?
Besides Alexandre Rodrigues, which I have already mentioned on the previous field, will have myself Gabriela Rocha, who is an Accountant and will be on this just helping with the financial resources, paralegal / legal processes for the project, besides helping on video edition, on subtitles translations to english, trying to make it as most efficient and productive as possible.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The idea is to have weekly video (1 per week) uploaded on youtube consequently posted on fun page facebook and twitter which will be edited (including english subtitles), written and filmed by the 5 citizen media journalists pre-chosen. The videos will be from 3 to 5 minutes interviews with locals, with pre established topic for the week. The intention of the view is to show the local feeling about the local and what's the local wish for this issue get solved, the video will show not only the local interview but will mix with images from the topic discussed and examples recorded.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
The connection I have is Alexandre as mentioned on previous fields, who is a militant in that community and has got a lot of experience with social projects and films production. This connection was done long time ago in 2005 when his NGO discussed some social projects together with a NGO I was involved with.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
5 participants will be trained in this project. As long as we have the funds to purchase the basic hardwares to put the project in development, such as cameras and laptop, the project can be kept by weekly meetings establishing points / subject to be filmed, edited and posted within that week.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
The tools we will bring to the project are computers, video cameras, presentation equipment, internet source and training place, and also we will bring softwares available on line to edit images, include subtitles, audio mix .
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
1. Space with chairs / snacks
2. Slide Show presentation on a data show;
3. 2 computers
4. 1 camera
5. Internet access with usb modems
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
I don't have any relationship with the community, but it was the community my grandmother lived in for a long time and I have this friend Alexandre who lives and is a militant there. I am the appropriate person to implement this, because although I am not involved in the community I have relationship with someone who fights for the community and wants to develop it and who lives in it. Besides, I have and outside view, from the regular citizen who lives on regular building but daily is affected by the violence and non presence of the government with this type of community and wishes that this type of environment, also succeeds and develops.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
The biggest challenge I see here is the frighten of the teenagers we choose to do this work. May be the get afraid of being caught by snitching bad news about their community, even by criminals or by the police.
The idea to use Alexandre is one of the reasons we can overcome this challenge, since he has the experience when filming Tropa de Elite and has contacts inside de favela, which will make those teenagers life much easier to make their job.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
I understand that what mostly can show the project impact and determine success is when this work reaches first of regional tv news and second of all brazilian tv news which consequently will be shown overseas and some how affect the government to stand up and start doing something by that population and spread it over the other communities of the same type which are lots of them in Rio.
