Marondera communities are riddled with a host of challenges emanating mostly from bad governane and corruption by local and national government offiials. Uncollected gabbage, poor roads, non-existent street lighting and sewerage blockages are some of the problems which need documentation. At the same time, political intolerance, killings, harassment and intimidation become the order of the day as the countdown to elections in the country begins.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Community news will be conveyed in the form of a collection of photograps on Flickr. These pictures will depict community mismanagement in the form of challenges bedevelling Marondera urban. The photographs will be able to tell the untold story of the Marondera crisis in terms of development and community projects as well as in times of elections.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
We have engaged local media practictioners, media institutions, the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists, Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe and Media Monitoring Project Zimbabwe and other community-based organisations so that they join hands with Communicators Zimbabwe in empowering the participants and ensuring the projet is a success. Communicators Zimbabwe has also approached Marondera Town Council conscientising it of the project .
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The following 51 members need to be trained to carry out the project:
-36 community members (12 women, 12 men and 12 youths)
-12 councillors
-3 members of the secretariat
We sustain their participation through monthly focus group discussions and monitoring and evaluation of their work on monthly basis.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
The project will need a number of other resources for it to be successful. These include:
