Nigeria: “From my Heart to Yours”

Through various workshops / trainings and monthly mentoring visits, GEM INT’L in partnership with SANROSE Information and Technology Enterprise will train 50 women from Luwuna Village on citizen media so as to create an avenue for expressions and advocacy on the status and rights of women through sharing of experiences on-line so as to gain support and be relief of their situation on regards to gender .

What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?

Luwuna community Saminaka lere local government of Kaduna state

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.

Luwuna The community is mostly uncivilized poor farmers with little infrastructures. They have no access to Internet services. They are one of the minority ethnic communities unrecognized even in the local province. They have no motivation for females education and self-sufficiency. And gross violation of their human rights to education and development. They need to be out of such situation through sharing with others so as to seek a way out.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?

GEM INT’L envisions that Luwuna women become part of the on-line conversation. They will be thought how to document and share their experiences and advocate for themselves on-line through the use of digital video, digital photography, mobile phones and blogs with hope of winning support for their development. They will also be encourage to train and encourage others.

SANROSE communication and technology enterprise has agreed to partner with us by providing us with the relevant trainings and mentoring exercise

How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?

50 women from Luwuna community will benefit directly from the program while their parents, families and the entire community will be indirect beneficiaries. Other stakeholders include community, traditional and religious leaders who have to grapple with the social problems arising from delinquencies in their respective localities.

Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?

Rising voices shall monitor, evaluate and receive the financial and physical achievement report of the project.
