This initiative is a citizen journalism training project that aims to empower women through digital media and online journalism.I mean by online journalism, blogging in its main forms:articles,videos/audio and photojournalism. The main objective is to give a voice to these women and empower them to advocate for their rights and their local communities through citizen journalism. They will be trained to create blogs and mentored to train other women
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
the 24 governorates/cities of Tunisia
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Beside the independent blogs,an online platform will be created named as the project where women's contributions will be posted on a regular basis. The content will focus on local social concerns of these women and documentation of their local problems(reporting, interviewing other women etc)The platform will play the role of a liaison between citizens and local authorities by raising local voices using local dialect on the blog posts
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
The team for the trainings will be formed of Tunisian bloggers from the Tunisian sphere such as:Ateliers ouverts de Bloggings- Social Media Club Tunisia-Le PACTE Tunisien- Independent bloggers-Women bloggers- Nawaat
This will be an opportunity for organizations working on citizen journalism to partner and network. It will also be inspiration to participants by learning from the bloggers’ experiences and concrete outcomes of citizen journalism
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The project targets more than 1000 new active women bloggers during 1st year. The project will be sustainable because it will contain 3 major steps.First round will be trainings of 300 women all over Tunisia(300new blogs). Then, the most 50 active women will attend training of trainers workshop. These women will go back to their regions and be mentored to train 50 women and so on.The network will extend in each region with a strong mentorship progam
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
-The promotion of the project on Global Voices website.
-Translation of some stories and publish them on Global Voices Website.
-Help improving the online platform(blog or website) of “Sout El Tounseya” once created.

Thank you Rafael, I hope to get the grant and make it happen! will get in touch with you soon
Merci encore.
this is an amazing opportunity to hear more voices of tunisian women to share their feelings and stories about their country and their community for all different issues. one voice can change many people perspective
Thank you Wail.Definitely a voice can influence a decision-making and change realities.
This idea is absolutely amazing and creative and covers very important issues! I wish you every success with it and I do hope this will become a reality because I do believe we need such program in a today’s world!
Thank you for the support Anna!
good initiative Aya, everyone in this world should support women’s rights. I think government should absolutely support this project, and am sure Tunisian bloggers will help you to achieve this project’s goals.
Thank you for the support Seif đ we will need a photographer too for the training and I want you to join us đ
I fully support this innovative idea! Empowering women through social and media tools is very important, and necessary as they are the one of the marginalised voices in society, and especially in the MENA region!
Thank you for the support Natalie. I will look forward to expand the idea on the MENA region once it works well in Tunisia.
Excellent initiative Aya and much needed! I loved the idea of raising voices and bringing to the fore the unheard and untold shades. Violence in its various manifestation is and can never be a private matter. There is dire need of sensitization and awareness to make their voices a vehicle and to say NO to violence publicly. I am so glad that you are utilizing your expertise of social media and online journalism to promote the cause. Wish you all the luck and let me know if I can be of any help, just a call away.
Thank you for the support Ashir. This is why I would like these women to document women’s issues because they are the most knowledgeable about the hidden violations especially in terms of violence. Will get in touch with you if I get the grant. I will need your experience in Pakistan for advocating on the issue of violence against women.
Merci encore
