Colombia: Community Cinema Screenings

The aim of the project is that the children and young women of the neighborhood Juan Rey in Bogota, Colombia produce a shortfilm on the principal challenges of a child who grows in an environment of exclusion and conflict. We want to sensitize to the community on the impact of a negative environment in the growth and development of the children. The shortfilm will realize by means of the training in audio-visual production, photography of 20 children and young inhabitants of this vulnerable community of the south of the Colombian capital.

India: Nazariya Mobile

Creating microcontent + distributing it using mobile voice messaging,community radio + social media. Working with adolescent + college age girls from the marginalized Muslim communities of Ahmedabad city. Project scales up two proven models of community engagement – Community workshops- To encourage target group to reflect upon their position within the community+create content in the form of posters, comics, micro-audio, micro-video. Mobile Voice Messaging: Creating, sending & receiving feedback through micro-audio delivered on a voice messaging platform.

Zimbabwe: She Says

The project aims at teaching rural women to use the internet to write about themselves in their own language, and to facilitate their participation in national , politics, economic and social issues.25 women will be trained on blogging, using wordpress, facebook and twitter. They will inturn train other women in their respective projects, or groups. Trainees will then create bloggs suitable for their own intrests, through which they will be able to tell their own stories. By this they will get recognition from other women in influential positions, and also learn what other women are doing.

Hungary: MigSzol Migrant Voices Project — Migráns Szolidaritás

The project aims at empowering the refugees in Hungary through media and journalistic training, for them to have a voice in the main political and cultural debates affecting their and their communities’ futures. We will hold 3 trainings in 2 cities in Hungary: Budapest and Debrecen. After transferring the skills, our informal group, composed of refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and Hungarians living in Hungary, will follow up on media creation. The platform for citizen journalism will be our new webpage, which will offer a complex content: personal stories, advocacy videos, initiatives.

Kenya: Africa Stories Project

This is a project that aims to bring back to life oral narratives and folk tales as told to us by older generations by archiving and sharing them via an online platform for current and future generations to learn from. We shall carry out this project in three ways: we shall venture out to the communities to collect stories first hand, in their raw form as still told at the village setting by people still in touch and practising their culture. We also intend to crowdsource stories on our web platform from our readers and lastly we intend to write our articles that cover historical happenings.

Uganda: Citizen Journalism Training for Deaf Youth

Sawa World will train 10 youth with hearing impairment in videography and community leadership with our popular training called Citizen Journalism and Community Entrepreneurship. The youth from the largest slums in Kampala, Bwaise, Kamwokya and Rubaga, will learn how to use photography and videography to document successful, locally-created and practical solutions to self-employment and improved livelihoods.

India: ANANDI – A Project for Better Menstrual Hygiene

To make a portal that will contain all relevant information regarding menstrual health and hygiene where women can ask questions, share stories, blogs, etc. Also, to introduce an anonymous phone helpline where 250 women of village Chharba (in Uttarakhand) can ask questions, which would be directed to the portal by trained Anganwadi workers. A panel of specialists from a regional hospital will entertain aforementioned queries once a week via a videolink and also answer on portal.The documentation of videolink will be printed and distributed among village women and also uploaded on portal.

Palestine: VACA Girl's Drama Theater Project

We are going to organize Palestinian Women Dance and Drama performance group and show its activities and play through social media. Women in Palestine suffer from a lot of difficulties including not only political problem but also social problem. Dancing and acting help women to reduce their pressure through expressing their emotion and feeling. Themes of their drama and dance will be related to women and we are going to exhibit its performance to women in our community. We expect they will become one of the role models of Palestine women in our community.

Palestine: Youth 2 Youth

The project is initiating training course about creative writing and photography. We will later collect a number of stories that youth share in their writing in order to produce a radio show based on it. The first stage of implementation will mainly focus on creative writing and how to enhance youth's ability in this particular field. The second phase will focus mainly on documenting their experience. The third phase is transforming it into a radio program.
