Romania: Get Ready 4 New Media

“Get Ready 4 New Media” is a project proposed by the Bucharestian Youth Association for the young Journalism students and graduates of the Journalism Faculty. The aim of this project is to facilitate contact between young students or graduates and experts in media with the intention of creating an online community. The objectives proposed by the Bucharestian Youth Association are to form a group of young, future journalists helped by experts and to ensure quality training of these young people to develop journalistic skills.

Armenia: Taghinfo

Taghinfo.am (“Tagh” means quarter in Armenian) is an existing hyperlocal news platform for Yerevan districts. The main idea of the project was to cover problems and interesting news outside of the center of Yerevan, to tell stories, which are not interesting for Mass Media, but still important for local community. As well as to train young citizen reporters. Using GV microgrants we would like to pay a special attention to the problems of the young disabled people in the urban area. We would like to train and ask them to join to our team and tell stories, based on their own experience.

Algeria: Aith Ourthilane Voices

My project consists on creating a Radio (internet and radio wave) for my local community.We will set up an internet radio station open to local and communitarian use. The oral tradition and storytelling roots are rich as music and culture in order to give more chances and tools to a great number of peoples espicially youngs implanting in this region to express free and with their native language and share their own stories, their culture and their mores and issues important to them in their daily life and let him to produce and innovate audio podcasts

Brazil: E nos! Two Realities, the Same Society

E nos ! is a project of citizenship and exchange through different realities. On the one hand a group of youth in an urban favela, on the other hand young people of a rural community. Each one with their experience and their social discrimination, but both lack represented in the political context. The project wants to open the minds, to build understanding of the Brazilian society trough the construction of a debate with plural voices, in order to form the youth to cultivate a critical opinion as conscious citizens.

Croatia: Roma Documentary Pho-To(day)

A documentary photography workshop intended for children and young teenagers in order to heighten their creative and technical skills by using computer software for editing, distibuting and publishing material online. The outcome material will be used to illustrate the community magazine called Romano Čaćipe (The Roma Truth) encouraging the younger generations to be included into the magazine.

Bolivia: The Voice of Bolivian Shoe Shiners

8 years we provide shoeshiners a voice & opportunities- published 47 editions of a magazine sold & written by 50 shoeshiners who keep all profit if they attend weekly workshops on personal growth and work on the magazine. Currently we have 30 in technical education scholarships, incl. communication and design, 20 on school support, and we give health & legal support. We propose expanding from printed to online media to improve the human rights situation of shoeshiners through thier own empowerment: providing physical means, facilities, & training resulting in a global online voice.

Morocco: Our Voices Heard in the World

Project seeks to train 40 organizations in the region and help them to establish their website and also opened their accounts on social networks and YouTube for free , and help them how to publish, communicate and make their voices heard to the world , trying through the project to support this organizations to disseminate its voices and to open to the world by the new media , in terms of : training them . And the project will be achieved due to the close to each others and also the permanent communicative with them via other courses that we’d organized.we shall explain all the steps.

We aim at the communities using media as an empowering tool to uplift them selves out of poverty.

Kenya: The Slum Voices

Whenever you come across a story about slums in Kenya’s mainstream media, it will most probably be negative; relating to crime, fire, drugs, prostitution, floods etc. This coverage paints a negative image of the slums and the residents. The Slum Voices is a citizen journalism program aimed at telling the world the positive stories from slums by the residents themselves through videos and pictures taken using their mobile phone cameras. The program targets all slum communities and will equip interested residents with basic journalism skills to help them tell their stories.

Kenya: ACDM Community Journalists’ Training Programme

Africa Community Development Media (ACDM) proposes the launch of “ACDM Community Journalists’ Training Programme” – a training program that will further implement the organization’s mission of actualizing the power of communities through community and social media. The “programme”,to be conducted at our offices, will serve as a platform to train Community Journalists on how to manage social media and blogs for their respective organizations. From a theoretical perspective, key ethical challenges for online journalists will be addressed, including: Accuracy, Transparency, Value Addition, Corrections and dealing with Trolls.
