Ghana: The Voice of Women

Our project aims to empower the women of the Nima/Mamobi community, one of the poorest communities in Accra. We hope to train these women to use social media to give them the platform to present their issues to a wide audience enabling them to make a change within their community.

Uganda: Empowering the Voiceless Pygmies

Project seeks to get volunteers to train the community in digital documentation so that they can write their content, relevant to their community, take pride in their culture, lead, develop, change and voice their issues to a bigger audience. The rural poor will have accelerated social change, empowered individuals for global and national consumption but most importantly, it will grant them an opportunity to tell its own story.

Cambodia: The Cambodian Grassroots Social Media Project

The proposal is to develop a social media training program for community-based organizations and grassroots activists working on human rights in Cambodia, with the long-term objective being to increase the amount of information related to human rights that is shared domestically and internationally. The training will include a hard and soft-copy toolkit designed to impart the know-how and tools to create successful and compelling citizen media.

Romania: Roma Community has Added You as a Friend

The scope of our project is to draw the attention of both local authorities and local media towards Roma communities in Iasi County, Romania. We aim to bring their everyday problems (discrimination, poverty, unemployment, difficult living conditions etc.) closer to decision-makers, seeing that they are both under and misrepresented in this process. We plan and hope to change mentalities and realities by socially empowering them as a community.

Phillippines: Citizen Documentation of Urban Poor Communities

The project will conduct video-photography training in 3 selected urban poor (UP) communities in the Philippines. Community members trained by citizen media practitioners will document their condition and struggle. Striking photos and videos will be used in online campaigns and exhibits in the communities and supportive institutions. This is to project the dire living condition and gain public support for their collective actions and campaigns.

Indonesia: Alternative Education for Children of Fishermen

We have a value on which we hold on to and which has driven us this far. We believe that natural resources preservation can only be realizable when social awareness has been built. However, it is inevitable that this awareness can only works when social welfare is attained. Therefore, in our village which is predominated by fishermen and farmers, we have tried our maximum effort to provide free services to initiate and enhance knowledge.

The role of sports personalities as influencers and models is well known. Unfortunately, very few role models are known amongst the youth in Kenya, and we wish to take young people within our community to tell their stories and inspire others to greatness through simple acts.
