The Youth Project Margins of the São Francisco River aims to enable young people to use social media, focusing on the production of a documentary. This in turn will meet the youth who live on the banks of the São Francisco River, their stories, problems and especially their life stories.
The project will also promote the creation of various social media to encourage youth participation in decision facing the social, environmental and cultural issues of the São Francisco River.

Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
The project will work with young people aged 14 to 19 students in the public school system, with focus on the preparation of an environmental documentary talking about the situation of the São Francisco and participation of youth in the process. Young people will fabricate various audio and video materials that will be available via the Internet to traditional communities.
In our country the youth leadership actions are not yet explored, is that public participation in training activities still needs attention. The project will work with young children and grandchildren fishing, where they have a special love for the river and its tributaries.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The young participants of the project will create a video documentary telling the stories of young people living on the banks of the river San Francisco, where they will gather information on traditional communities. Youngsters will capture images with a focus on lifestyle, actions to preserve the river, and citizen participation of young people that border there.
The documentary will encourage young people to think about a better world where they will create new prospects for the protection of life St. Francis River and its tributaries.

We are looking for new partnerships for the implementation of the project.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
Will train 22 young with an average age between 14 to 19 years, where it will participate in various creative workshops to motivate them to try new tools to use digital media such as social networking, audio, video and internet. Young people will be trained as social communicators thus broadening their horizons.

Our team has experience in building and creating documentaries aimed traditional communities as Maroons, Indians and riparian.
Where our goal and create opportunities underprivileged youth children and grandchildren fishing to try a new, world full of great stories to tell.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
The workshops will take place in the Commercial and Business Association Três Marias, where young people have easy access to computers with internet available to perform the necessary research beyond the creation of a blog directed activities related to the project in the course of their activities.
In this space, each student will have access to a PC with broadband with each averaging 600kbps.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
I am the son of a fisherman and understand the community where I live the yearning of youth living in this place. They have no prospects in life or professional growth.
With the creation of the documentary young people can talk about their problems, hopes and plans for the future, so they can be heard always seeking improvements to the community where we live.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
The main challenge and encourage young people to participate in the project, given that the community does not want drastic changes, for not believing in government and public policies aimed at youth. Therefore I believe that the creation of this video can change the reality of these young people.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
Evaluations will be made after the conclusion of the documentary, where indicators are changes of habits in the community aiming to improve quality of life.
