Finalist – Honduras: Good News Blog

The Good News Blog's objective is to inspire young people who are going through a desperate and uncertain period. Inspiring interviews, mentorships and images can be used as a reference and knowledge can be shared among interviewees supporting their own life development. The plan is to interview persons without titles or college degrees but who have fulfilled their life goals and dreams with hard work and effort, like entrepreneurs, store and auto-shop owners, or salesmen.

Honduras: Youth and Violence Investigative Reporting Project

Every hour and twenty minutes a person dies in Honduras. The murder rate is 85.5 per 100,000 inhabitants and many of them are young people. Working in collaboration with Jovenes Contra La Violencia, Conexihon and USAID we will launch an investigative reporting series that will air on State channel 8 and a cable channel. This 5-part series will focus on analysis, the causes and impact of violence against youth and potential solutions.

Honduras: Vozz Honduras

VOZZ is a citizen journalism election training project – it was implemented during Guatemala’s election in 2011 and El Salvador’s municipal election in 2012. Vozz will be launched in Honduras during its national elections in November 2013. The project’s goal is to teach electoral processes, reporting skills, the use of digital reporting tools, and self-publication on the Vozz HN website. We seek funding for two Training of Trainers “bootcamps”.
