Nigeria: Our Special Needs and Deeds

This will be a multimedia documentary on both the talents and challenges faced by special needs pupils of Omoyeni School for the Handicapped, a boarding school in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Some of the pupils have been abandoned in the school by parents/guardians. We shall train the pupils on how to shoot simple videos/pictures and produce podcasts.

Mexico: Guelaguetza Radial Femenina

We will promote the rights of indigenous people to participate in civic/citizen communication processes in digital spaces by organizing 3 training sessions for 30 indigenous women from 15 community radio stations to increase capacity to produce audio pieces with Audacity and use online tools such as podcasting. The trainings will result in a series of 12 audio pieces in Spanish and indigenous languages of stories of violence against women.

Peru: Communicating from our Palenques Kids the World

The children and adolescents of rural Afro-Peruvian communities suffer from a real foreclosure conditioned by its geographical location and its very economic poverty. The project will provide tools to enter the world press, through training programs in the use of communication in four children Palenques community. They publish the material produced in community public websites, so there is this entry to the world.

Uganda: Platform for Disabled Women in Sexual Reproductive Health

It will help to train PWDs i.e. Women and girls on how to advocate for their rights in the Health and Education Sector and on the challenges they face through public dialogues, how to use the internet to seek audience and also bring out their views in News papers. And in the end they will be able to come out to stand for their rights through Public Community Awareness.

Macedonia: Wild Herbs Exchange Network

Macedonia is a country with lush nature and a large number of medicinal herbs and teas. People that live in remote villages have a natural remedy for every ailment but they have very little contact with the rest of the world. We plan to educate these people on the importance in sharing this knowledge by exchange of information and cures using the internet. We will also ask young bloggers to photograph and write about these wild herbs.

Australia: Replenish the Earth – Voices from Aboriginal Australians

Project REARTH aims to promote ecological and social justice. It will collect stories from aboriginal Australians, whose views and knowledge focus strongly on living harmoniously with our land. Stories will be uploaded on websites First Voices and The Goodness Inc. It will create a blog including videos, audio and art where aboriginal Australians can be at the centre of social change by delivering social media training and tools.

Tanzania: Sauti Yangu Media

Sauti Yangu Media is a swahili name means My Voice Media.The project aims at equipping voiceless community helping them to advocate for their own needs or participate online.The project is seeking a solution to the young Tanzanian 13-30 ages who are dying almost every day while driving a motorcycle in Meru District. The project will involve Government and non Governmental to get Emergency Response & Prevention. Different feedback will be collected.

Indonesia: Popular Media to Increase Community Resilience Awareness

Implementing information tunnels about permaculture and disaster risk management in Banggai, Sulawesi through folk art performances, media training, community radio where we use solar panels energy and in which we make examples of community issues, permaculture and disaster preparedness. Through such programs we improve the interest in sustainability, because people are attracted by the combination of information and entertainment.
