Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Ashaiman – Zongo Laka
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The specific population we would be working with are uneducated/semi-educated small scale business women (70%) and men (30%).
These are people who are unable to expand their businesses due to lack of modern technological skills and innovative ideas. Most of them express interest in sharing ideas of their community, business and Governance but they are not able.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Our visions is to have various media content showing the old way things are done in their communities, business and how they would be able to share ideas through the media to improve or change for the better after the project is ended.
They should be able to write report, keep business records, take pictures/videos using digital devices and use the internet.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
We are members of ADVOCACY NETWORK FOR SMALL SCALE ENTERPRISES (ANSSE). This is a group micro, small and medium scale businesses. Among us are women group leaders, youth, cooperatives. We are also affiliated with the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly which is the local Governing Authority.
The organization is registered with the Registrar Generals Department. With the hope to establish contact with other NGOs.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The project is expected to train 500 people in 2013. We hope that this would bring a significant improvement in the lives of these vulnerable poor. They would be able to do things in a new way.
To sustain their interest and participation, Feeding, Transportation and allowance must be provided at the end the project.
The training environment must be comfortable and conducive.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We hope to be supported with 2 colour laser printers, 1 photocopier, 1 scanner, 1 Projector & Stand, 1 Solar power generator, HD Digital Video camera, Pinnacle Video Capture Device and Software, 50 ipad phones, 100 laptops, 50 digital cameras, 600 Rising Voices branded Polo Lacost-Shirt.
