Rwanda: Gorilla Journalists Center

Gorilla Journalists Center is a futuristic project based in Kigali. We understand that Rwanda is a country of story tellers. Unfortunately, most of these talents have not been nurtured to benefit the society. The Center hopes to utilize the grant to promote the development and distribution of online video in Rwanda. We will conduct extensive workshops on the fundamentals of citizen media to both traditional journalists and common Rwandans. We have laid down structures to encourage our students to share their new skills with marginalized Rwandan communities including survivors of the genocide.

Montenegro: Map Me

I want to give chance to every non official community in the country to have online voice. Map me platform is going to allow to every(non-hate…) community to map themselves on the website, even to get their blog, so they are able to speak for themselves, so everyone can hearthem.

Kenya: Community Media Initiative

Community Media Initiative proposes to bridge the gap of information in the rural grass root communities via digital media.We shall highlight the issues that affect the society,document and use it to enlighten the community by doing community outreaches and video shows hence provide a platform on which their stories and views are shared with the global community.With effective use of social media,we hope to keep the community updated on current affairs and explore opportunities that are available for them as alternative means of livelihoods.

Indonesia: “Our Day Our Lives” Documentary Film of Balinese Young People

This is a filmmaking project to capture Balinese young people (high school students) daily lives – how they use their time, what they like doing, where they hang out, and their interconnection with communities. The documentary film is to reflect on the future of Bali young generation. Parents, teachers, policy makers and Bali indigenous community group can learn from the movie to better facilitate ideas, creativity and freedom of expression of young people. These students will be the main actors, movie makers, and also directors of this collective-made documentary film.

Uganda: NEMPI Project Promoting Underserved Women in Uganda.

This project is intended to raise funds for the promotion of livelihoods of the undeserved women in Uganda communities.In Uganda many women are under served or underrepresented in their communities therefor this project has come up to promote their livelihoods but lack funds,technical and material assistance to motivate them fully.

Zimbabwe: Amplifying Marginalised Farm Communities Voices

The project seeks to train on the use new media (Whatsapp and Facebook) to raise the voices of the Zimbabwean farm communities who have been largely marginalised after the country's government embarked on a land reform exercise so that their plight and views get to policy makers. We will use a mainstream media web platform to stir debate and discussion around rights to communal land and labour rights among other issues. Community based information groups (CBIG) are in existence and what they need most now is capacity building through intensive training.

Zimbabwe: Change the World: Training for Citizen Journalists

l am proposing to conduct a training programme targeting citizen journalists. The training helps to lay the foundation for civil society advocates to become citizen journalists. It brings together journalism skills and advocacy goals to help citizen journalists share their perspectives and experience with decision makers and wider audiences to influence the discourse around community and related developmental issues. We have developed a training manual called change the world.

Ghana: You Care Voice Platform

Youth Concern and Responsive to Environment (YOU CARE) Voice Platform is a platform of youth representing the 12 rural areas of Wa Municipal where environment has been degraded so bad. They will be trained how to use a simple digital camera, basic journalism tips and take photos of environmental degradation and post it on a Facebook group they will create to build awareness amongst their peers who has no qualms of environmental care. The platform will be a pilot project to create community journalism using Facebook where most of the youth in this part of the world is familiar with.

Uganda: Common Community – Radio Soap

Community Community Radio Soap is three months Radio Drama campaigned on citizen participation in decision making in the areas of election, community development and economical activities. The story in this production focus of election and how best the election can meet the needs of the citizens, local community. The programme will be implemented through development and production of a weekly radio drama which will be aired on a local-community radio and listeners will participate through phone calls and text messages. The production team will conduct continuous research and field Interaction.
