Brazil: Engaging Voices of Favela's Youth

The project aims to train underprivileged youth from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro to become citizen journalists by documenting issues that surround them, via posting blogs, short videos or images to the VO1CE website. Participants will take workshops in writing, video recording and photography as a prerequisite. The goal is to empower voices that are often disfranchised and give them interactive space to share their ideas and advocate solutions.

Peru: Multimedia Conferences in the Central Andes

Sharpen Voices for Women Sexual Right is an advocacy effort which seeks to empower young women to advocate for their own reproductive and sexual health rights(SRHR) through public awareness-raising and advocacy, mobilization of peers to take action for the establishment of favourable policies and programmes that grantee universal access to SRHR services for women before and after Millennium Development Goal 5, through the use of social media.

Romania: More Voices, Louder Voices – Empowered Voices

What? The scope of the project is to empower individuals with mental illness so that they are more willing and more able to fight stigma. How? To meet this aim, we propose to build an online platform and to train individuals with mental illness and their caregivers to generate content for the platform by: (1) showcasing the stigma trap; (2) telling their own story in words; (3) telling their own story in pictures.

Hormigón Armado The Shoeshinners Newspaper gives them a voice through printed media exposing their dignified, legitimate and sacrificed contribution to the war on poverty. Amplifying ourselves digitally we could significantly increase our demand of respect and pro-active solidarity towards them from society and local authorities.

Poland: Our Micro Country

Is it fair to announce,that new kindergarten starts next week,while the effective opening is done a half year later? For authorities of rural communities (=micro countries) it seems honest! No citizen will argue: they fear of losing jobs, of discrimination or disgrace. Therefore it is essential to create the first network of micro-watchdogs in Pomerania,in order to respect basic units of democracy. Volunteers will gain training, tools, and supervision.

Zimbabwe: Farmers Voices At Last

To support a farmer information centre with relevant media hard and software. Ten farmers will under go intensive training on use of the media. The trainers will then train other farmers on use of the media. The farmers will then share regularly with other farmers and the wider global community on issues affecting them in their agriculture, environment, processing and marketing. The farmers will prepare their script and tell their story.

Kenya: Voices of the Abasuba Community

As a result of assimilation to and intermarriage with the dominant Nilotic Luos, the Suba culture has come under pressure. It was formed by a group of young people some time back due to their concerns on crime, social injustice and disengagement between communities and the council within the Govan Mbeki area. This corporate association will for the purpose of its Communication business undertakings, comprises of subsidiaries; Imbali FM, Imbali Newspaper.
