Malawi: Music Crossroads: Youth Media Outreach

The project will be organised by the nonprofit organisation Music Crossroads International (MCI). The project aims at introducing our students’ stories, at the local academies in Mozambique and Malawi, to the global community. The project will empower the musicians, sharing skills on effective music recording and knowledge on how to spread their message to larger audience using social media tool, to start a global conversation. Music is extremely important in Southern Africa and this project will give our young students a voice in the community and online through their music

Ukraine: Summer Film School

Purport of this project is to teach participants create qualitative and original video content (especially to create personal channels on videohostings ) . In this participants of the project will take all steps of creating videos (from creation ideas to filming and editing , also promoting their personal channel). Participants will be divided into groups. Each group will be run by a coach. Under their guidance on the spot will be created videos , short films or internet show . Our target is to teach Ukrainian youth to do qualitative and original video content .

Brazil: Rural Communication – and Far Becomes Close

The current proposal refers to work with the rural youth about public communication made by the community, for the community. The objective is, to recapture the roots of their stories and to narrate these by audio podcasts and in the local radio as well as to encourage those young people to form a managing group of a communal radio, which is also responsible for the communication with Rising Voices. Realizing the activities using free software, we have the intention to instruct the recording techniques, the audio edition and the publication on internet.

Barbados: Children in the City

Youth, who live and work in the World Heritage site, Bridgetown and its Garrison will share their views on heritage and assess the impact of the World Heritage site designation on youth. Participants will advocate for an improvement in the way that youth as a stakeholder group are engaged by policymakers and how young people can benefit from living and working in the WHS Area. Using social media and free online publication tools such as Facebook, Flickr and Instagram participants will photoblog their discoveries and curate an online exhibition which shares their findings with the community.

Zimbabwe: Mbira Musical Heritage Preservation

I intend to work on digital cultural preservation and assisting our local cultural communities to both share their cultural wealth of knowledge with current and future generations and to also give them an opportunity to learn about the benefits of the internet. To achieve this, 2 workshops will be conducted to practically help with the implementation of aspects patterning to internet usage and its revelence in these communities.I will work with communities involved in the making and presentation of mbira music for the purposes of preserving the mbira heritage for current and future references

Speaking Eyes aims to train a group of young adult’s living in a conflict zone area of both genders ages 14-17 on how to express and document the stories and concerns of themselves and their community through caricature, creative writing, and publish these writings, political, social and economical cartoons in a blog established, edited and updated by the youth themselves. Therefore, they will undergo a training on creative writing, illustrations and caricature, photography and social media utilization especially blogs.

Mexico: The South of South is Liberated Music

We propose to contribute towards strengthening the Mayan language and Yucatecan spanish by thinking of the problems in our communities and proposing solutions by composing music, being us the ones who can give ourselves a voice. Our proposal is to provide workshops with young leaders of music projects in different communities of Yucatan, to build strategies for collaborative musical composition with themes that affirm our culture in our present. Our goal is to create 10 songs as a result of the proposed group workshops about the problems and solutions that we collectively construct.

It´s a program of participatory workshops and self-managed video production, developed for Morelos young people, with the objective to create networks that allow them to integrate as a community to produce capsules in video that portray people, customs, traditions and daily life of their environment, particularly focused on the preservation and promotion of the work of local artisans and intangible heritage.
