As the current phase of the Mapping for Niger project draws to an end, the Rising Voices micrograntee celebrated with a ceremony at the University of Niamey.
Everyday Africa, a collective blog using photography to break down stereotypes about Africa, focuses on mobile phone photos, representing the rising wave of technology in Africa. They are creating curriculum for teens, combatting assumptions learnt from the mainstream media about "other" people and places.
Another participant we spoke to at the Arab Bloggers Meeting was Dina El Hawary from Meedan. She provided an overview of the platform and training for the Checkdesk project that she has been working with is Checkdesk, which helps facilitate collaborative verification of social media.
During the recent Arab Bloggers Meeting (AB14) held in Amman, Jordan, we spoke with Bukeni Waruzi of Witness, who spoke about his role in AB14, and provided some words of advice for fellow citizen media trainers working in the field.
