Cameroon: Project ENVISION – Disability is Not Inability

ENVISION creates solutions to the challenges disabled youths in Cameroon face. To effectively empower disabled youths, working closely with beneficiaries is important. Thus to raise awareness on their challenges, we are working with disabled youths to launch a radio program hosted on the national radio station, CRTV. Furthermore, to change perspectives on how to bring out the best in “disabled” youths and create an environment where they are accepted and assisted to grow, we plan on launching a Video log(Vlog) on our online social media platforms. This will be managed and run by the youth

Mexico: HerStory – Stories of Women on the Frontlines

The aim is to launch an online crowd-based map using existing and user-generated data from human rights defenders to reduce violence against women in Mexico through storytelling and the sharing of data. We will implement an online training course using Google Hangouts with a core group of human rights defenders currently working in Mexico. Courses will focus on the use of narrative strategy to frame stories, current mapping and SMS technology. The website will be launched as a training tool and a way to humanize the statistics related to violence targeted at women and children in Mexico.

Mexico: Videoblog of History and Oral Mayan Tradition

Portal with videos of life stories, legends and traditions from Mayan speakers of Campeche. This project proposes to register a part of the Mayan oral culture. This will be through 20 interviews of Maya-speakers who, through them, will tell a traditional Mayan history. Topics are open, however, priority will be given to those that deal with the environment. Subsequently, these recordings will be edited and translated into Spanish and English and will be hosted on a website to be promoted through our social networks and those of our partners.

India: Taking ‘Apna Haq’ to the Community

Feminist Approach to Technology (FAT) is a non-profit organisation that envisages a holistic leadership model for girls, by helping them own technology from a rights-based feminist perspective. The project proposed here aims at creating three digital stories by girls from an urban poor area in New Delhi. They will capture and document the opinions and perspective of three stakeholders, viz., community-elders, boys and the girls themselves, on a film they have already made on issue of lack of toilets (called Apna Haq) and trace the impact the film has had on each stakeholder for safer living.

Netherlands: Unite Ukrainian community in the Netherlands

This project aims to support Ukrainians in the Netherlands, to contribute to the formation of our diaspora through the maintenance of the existing online platform www.maidan.nl & the organization of the offline Ukrainian community centers. Our goals: 1) distribute trustful information about Ukraine, resist to anti-Ukrainian propaganda that appears on world media; 2) inform about events & activities related to Ukraine and the community in the NL; 3) provide coordination and support self-organization of various grassroots projects; 4) give community a voice – petitions; 5) share ideas/experience

Yemen: Challenge Early and Forced Marriage in the Hadramout

Macedonia: Know Your Local Rights!

This project has as its purpose to introduce the local rights and obligations to citizens of Strumica. The need of such project and the creation of an online newsletter in form of a website are of significant importance for acknowledgement of the local rights, but in meantime endorsement of the local rights too. Through creation of a website , which primary will serve as place for acknowledgement of the human rights, the citizens will be able to find out how to use properly their own rights, but also how to respect and fulfill their obligations towards the society.

Colombia: Getting to Know the Birds in My Region

This Project aims at encouraging students to develop research skills for protecting the environment through the observation of the local fauna. This will be done through bird watching field trips at non risk sites in which children will identify bird species and take pictures of them. Using the data collected by the students, educational materials will be produced by them such as posters, blogs and visual bird guides with information about the species found in the region. In addition, workshops will be carried out where biologist, community and students will share their knowledge about birds.

Ukraine: Citizen Media – New Possibilities for NGOs

The project is aimed the technological development of civil society and is an initiative that further the effectiveness and sustainability of the NGOs in the Kharkiv region, Ukraine by using Internet technology and citizen media. Such technologies make it possible to establish communication channels with the target audience, like-minded individuals, media and potential partners. Achieving the goals will be implemented through conducting a series of educational trainings for local NGOs underrepresented online to create their own websites using free constructors and groups in social networks

Sierra Leone: Community Sanitation

This project aims to involve all categories of youth to create awareness on hygiene and sanitation issues affecting our community. Efforts made by the government NGOs to give the Kenema City a facelift. Because young people are fond of mobile phones, it will be a good opportunity to use this channel of communication to adopt environmental cleaning. This project intends to sensitize 55% of the youth population on promoting behavior change in the township. This is done by using mobile phones, internet, Face book, MP3, Digital camera, Bluetooth etc. Their voice, views and opinion would be heard
