Bangladesh: Citizen Journalism Project for Women

The project I'm proposing is simple. I would like to train up to 20 youth women citizen journalists under the facilitation of journalist, expert on social media. I would like to train them 3 important things (1) blogging, Wikipedia, social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter & Youtube (2) how to utilize them in a way that is relevant to their lives (3) how they can train their peers how to use them as well. End of the workshop participants are able to gain knowledge & skills on social media and they will be motivated to work for their community.

Russia: Parents of Disabled Children Collective Blog

Being the mother of a disabled child, I understand that is to be in an information and emotional vacuum. When you raise a child with special needs, you need (as well as expert advice or medical help) real stories of real people. This may encourage more than statistics and it also helps to build strong community. The blog will be not only a platform for discussion or forum or social network. I see it as an opportunity to speak, to write The Family Story, to discover creative potential of mothers and fathers of children with disability.

With an estimated 400,000 men relying on the bicycle for their daily income, there are many untold success stories and challenges behind the bicycle taxi business.Feeding the families,paying school fees and medical fees for family members,constructing good houses,raising capital for other businesses,keeping fit and protecting the environment are some of the stories.The project aims at bringing out these stories behind the bicycle taxi.

The “Blogs of political refugees from the Crimea” will include accommodation on the existing online platform owned by the applicant for a grant, blogging section of the Crimean population, which, after the Russian annexation of the peninsula left Crimea to live in Lviv (Ukraine). The project workers will describe the history of his life in Lviv and problems of adaptation. One of the objectives of the project — to help new residents of Lviv openly express their thoughts about the new city, to communicate with each other via the Internet platform, to share the experience of adaptation.

Macedonia: Citizens Beyond the Margins – Teachers’ Views!

This project aims at encouraging citizenship education teachers to voice (1) the affect of citizenship education on their primary-school students; and (2) the difficulties they are facing in regards to teaching citizenship education. The project team will visit up to 8 teachers in most remote areas of the country and support them to record their stories, produce videos and share them on-line. Other citizenship teachers will be invited to post their own videos on the newly created f-book group. The post with most ‘likes’ will win the mobile phone purchased and used for the project activities.

‘INGOOMA’ basically means ‘drum’ in the Maragoli accent of western Kenya. In the days past, a large ‘ingooma’ was placed into the Maragoli hills, that was used to communicative important information to the community .It was the focus of the entire community, and they relied on its boom to know how the situation was in the community and what to do in different situations. This project intends to use citizen media as a modern day ingooma, to share and impart important information among young people of the Maragoli community, as a way of empowering and providing exposure to technology.
