Philippines: Keeping up with #YolandaPH victims

The project is a citizen journalism program that aims to teach and empower Yolanda (Haiyan) victims to continually report on their situation. Five months after the typhoon, the victims are out of media limelight but still in dire need of continuous relief, rehabilitation, livelihood program and the much-needed (and never given) financial aid and compensation for their losses. Local and international aid poured in like torrents but the situation of the people remain as bleak. The project aims to conduct social media trainings and put technology in the hands of the people.

Kenya: Africa Stories Project

This is a project that aims to bring back to life oral narratives and folk tales as told to us by older generations by archiving and sharing them via an online platform for current and future generations to learn from. We shall carry out this project in three ways: we shall venture out to the communities to collect stories first hand, in their raw form as still told at the village setting by people still in touch and practising their culture. We also intend to crowdsource stories on our web platform from our readers and lastly we intend to write our articles that cover historical happenings.

Ukraine: E-Inclusion Against Digital Exclusion

Persons with disabilities face difficulties traveling, going out and accessing to information. It becomes more visible nowadays, in the world dominated by digital information and new media which leads to digital exclusion. We want to raise awareness among youth with fewer opportunities, their parents, NGO workers about new technologies and tools which make access to digital world easier. By means of trainings, consultations, manuals we will show that everyone is equal in the Internet, spread the knowledge how to educate and communicate the disabled more effectively and efficiently.

Albania: The Marathon of Vox Populi “More Women in Politics Because…”

The project aims to ensure a greater voice for women and to promote women’s equality for 2015 Local Election. Women’s “marathon” will be a national action and will cover 12 regions of Albanian. It will be constituted by several elements;the most important will be the “equal rights spot” where citizens from every part of Albania will give their opinion and reasons for supporting women in politics. The Vox populi interviews will be conducted by 12 women previously trained, with citizen -12 regions of Albania. Then, the interview will be summarized in a TVspot “More women in politics because…”

India: Uplift Tribal Women's Life Through Social Media

The organization proposes to inculcate technological aptitude in the form of imparting the art of using Social Media to the tribal women of backward areas of the Northern India with the purpose of amplifying their voices thus helping their stories to reach out to the entire world by training them to master over the skills of social media and technology. They will be taught to operate computers first, then internet services followed by multimedia Mobile phones.

Bhutan: “E-ngage Youth”

The Project will create an increased awareness on media literacy amongst the school going youth and high school dropouts, who reside at Changjiji Housing Complex by conducting a series of media literacy/engagement classes. A local media expert will conduct photojournalism, digital storytelling and video-blogging classes. Through this training we hope that the youth will not only gain an understanding of how media functions, but also get their voices heard and be a part of our democratic processes.
