On Saturday, January 16, 2010 over 100 participants across Bolivia participated in Barcamp Santa Cruz which was supported by the Rising Voices grantee Voces Bolivianas. Several members of the Voces Bolivianas community across the country played key roles in the event.

Talented Women Bloggers Present Abroad

A pair of talented women bloggers from the Rising Voices community were invited to present their work at international conferences. Catalina Restrepo presented at a BarCamp in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and Cristina Quisbert was awarded the International Activist Scholarship to attend BlogHer '09. Nominations for the 2010 version of the scholarship are now being accepted.

Rising Voices, the outreach and citizen media training initiative of Global Voices Online, has launched a new interactive website and global network of researchers to map online technology projects that aim to promote transparency, political accountability, and civic engagement.

Hiperbarrio: The Balloon Festival Of La Loma

The citizen journalists of the Rising Voices grantee Hiperbarrio posted some photos and videos of the Balloon festival of La Loma (Festival de globos de La Loma 2010). The event was broadcast live via Twitter and streaming video.

Abidjan Blog Camps: Alloco Bloggers Party In Ivory Coast

On Saturday, December 19, 2009 the second Alloco Bloggers Party was organized in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Dozens of Ivorian bloggers were present including several bloggers who attended the Abidjan blog camps. Meanwhile the success of the citizen journalism platform Avenue 225 in Ivory Coast led Israël Yoroba to launch a similar platform titled Avenue 223 in neighboring Mail.
